There has been much discussion on the Rangers board about trading some of the excess defensive depth to the Kings for one of their young centers.

1) Do you think this is likely?

2) Which center do you think the Kings would be willing to trade to obtain a high level defensive prospect?

While Luff is still young and has shown some upside...

He has? He's a one-dimensional player that isn't especially good at his single dimension (scoring goals). He's a crappy version of Martin Frk, who isn't fantastic to begin with.

Is it worth taking Cal Peterson this week?

You didn't ask me, but I'll throw in my two cents anyway.

1. Yes, but likely not immediately. Next year's trade deadline or the 2022 draft is probably a more reasonable timeframe.

2. If the Kings had to pick one of their top 3 young centers to trade right now (Byfield, Vilardi, or Turcotte), I suspect they would choose Turcotte. Vilardi is needed for the lineup now and Byfield has the highest ceiling, so those guys probably aren't available. The Kings aren't looking to trade Turcotte either, but if a solid trade proposal came along, I think the Kings would consider it.

I'd consider Alex Turcotte for K'Andre Miller, 1-for-1. If Miller isn't available (probably a good decision), then a trade could be made around someone like Kupari, Thomas, or Madden instead. I don't think they'd consider moving Turcotte for anything less than Miller though.

Probably. He seems to always put up quality numbers, even in losses.

Personally I wouldnt trade turcotte(who already showed chemistry with kaliyev at wjc)or byfield(best potential of the three imho).those 2 could anchor the forward core for yrs to come.vilardi would be the center for dman I'd be willing to make a deal, but vilardi alone wont get a 1 or 2 dman imho.

I think it's possible but I don't know that I'd say it's likely. It was reported that Rob Blake would be willing to do a one-for-one type of trade to get a young left-handed defenseman but I'd also expect they're not in a rush to make a deal (as was mentioned in another response above).

As for who could be moved, I think it depends on who the Kings would be getting back. I'd imagine Byfield is pretty much untouchable at this point and it would likely be either Turcotte or Vilardi as the trade chip.
