Hains: Where Does Staal Fit in

10 days after being acquired by Marc Bergevin, Eric Staal will make his debut with the Habs against the Oilers tonight.

My worse fears about the trade look to be coming true...

Staal not being a complimentary player, but a focal point in the offence shoving younger players down the charts or into the press box.

I don't even think Staal and Perry should be regulars in the line-up, so this is disappointing to see.

Staal had 47 pts in 66 games last year in MINN which is more than any Habs center.
what makes you think he is now a 4th liner?

He should not be a 4th line centre but I think he should be on the wing for 2nd or 3rd line not at centre to let the youngsters stay in their positions on that line

Also Frolik keeps his mouth shut and stays on the taxi squad while Mete ask his agent to bark and plays

Love the lineup. Staal is big, bring a good % Of faceoff, plays with a talented winger and a scorer, this could be an interesting line. Suzuki having two big wingers with skills is nice.
Sad for KK but they played a pretty solid game against Oilers last time.

Just need Charriot to be back and Armia to replace Byron and we are set to go.
The Finns line was pretty good last year together.

guys... Ducharme is coaching for a contract. our highest scoring center is barely scoring at a 50-point pace for an 82-game schedule, and the top 4 centers on this team, collectively, have scored 17 goals in 34 games.

i have a hard time arguing with his center deployment tonight.

What you said make sense our strength is on RW hence complimenting the right centres is very important, I still think with Caufield coming up some of these questions will go away

True, but there’s a lot ridding on Staal being really effective, just not convinced he can still be but time will tell

The Finns line missed heck of a lot of chances last year because no one had finish on it and that’s still true. They did play well against Edmonton yes, but Lehkonen getting a goal and an assist is a once in a blue moon opportunity...plus Toffoli was injured so they had no choice but to use that line...anyways, fingers crossed it works well for the Habs.

Montreal Is 16 and 28 so I was thinking that they should add another old and slow forward to get them over the hump. Wow! Lol.

please...no need for the Habs to play Mete when the player is not worth a bag of pucks. You can make the same argument for Frolik to Perry or Staal as well
