They call the shootout a "skills competition" and the Flyers are statistically the worst in the NHL since it's idiotic adoption. Food for thought...

He’s been our best player for a month now, in all to similar fashion the supporting cast is just never good enough. I hate to say his career was wasted here but we really never iced a team that was close to a contender in his entire captaincy. Best shot was probably the year the rangers went to the cup, If Mason starts that series I’m confident we would have won it.

Wayne Gretzky (PS only), Peter Forsberg, Jaromir Jagr and Alex Ovechkin had a lower combined career penalty shot/ shootout percentage (30.3% among the four) than Chris Stewart (3-for-3 on penalty shots, 12-for-28 on shootouts), Kris Letang (0-for-1 PS, 20-for-61 SO) or Jussi Jokinen (1-for-1 PS, 20-for-68 SO).

It is what it is.

What ever they did with Hart worked. He bailed them out a handful of times and I do mean a handful. His glove hand was strong last night.

I agree with Bill though. Pretty good game played overall and a step in the right direction but they needed two points at this juncture.

Worried about Myers. He got back in the game but play gingerly. Hope his shoulder is okay. Good to see Morin playing decent hockey. He can bring some much needed grit when he is playing solid in his own end.

Traditionally, the Flyers have never been a skillful team. As an organization, they prefer the lunch pail mentality because, well, that is what wokred 45 years ago. Quite boring and un-entertaining. I'd rather lose with flash than win with slog. Probably not a popular opinion, but my first goal when I tune in is to be entertained.....

mr4...

Yup, Lindros, Renberg, Recchi, Tocchet, Forsberg, Gagne, Eklund, Sinasalo, Clarke, Leach, Barber, Howe, Desjardins, and so many others were totally void of skill.

I’ll take those sloggers any day of the week.

Reasons, excuses, issues, situations, COVID. Beat writers and fans alike have a decade of these to explain why the flyers haven’t won. At some point somebody in this organization is going to have to be bold.
