North Division current standings based on points percentage.
1. TOR 37GP .689
2. MTL 33GP .621
3. EDM 38GP .618 (23 wins)
4. WPG 38GP .618 (22 wins)

5. VAN 37GP .473
6. CGY 38GP .461
7. OTT 37GP .378
I honestly don’t know who I would want the leafs to play 1st round. They’ve had their way with Edmonton but the McDavid and drasaitl (butchered) are just dangerous and can win games on their own.
Realistically I think I would want mtl first round, but they can be a wildcard. |

Montreal has more losses than wins.
I would take them in first round given the choice.

I think Edmonton would be the best route to take for the first round, they are the shallowest team of the 3. We have proven that if you shut down MCD & Drai they are a cakewalk. Montreal and Winnipeg have deeper teams with Goalies that can Goalie. Smith is impressive but He's gotta be getting tired, Oilers get out played almost every game but MCD , Drai & Smith carry them through it |

Just a reminder that Jason Spezza, the Leafs 37 year old 4th liner that earns 700k has more points that Danault, Weber, Perry AND the Habs brand new Rockstar Josh Anderson who has 16 points and a cap hit 5.5M for the foreseeable future...... that is all

If Price gets hot they have goalie that can goal and defenders that can defend. Winnipeg doesn’t have much in the way of D. Hopefully the makeup schedule helps wear out the old guys. |

I remember being berated by Habs fans when I dared suggest that Josh Anderson's numbers were massively inflated by an unsustainably high S% and that he was due to regress hard.
After a hot start he has 2g3a in his last 17 games.
I like his hard-nosed style of play (something I'd like to see more from the Leafs) but that contract... |

Agreed. I am more concerned about Montreal and Winnipeg. They can beat you with goaltending and have good depth supporting it. Edmonton is still too thin, forward and D.
I don't think any of the 3 are going to be easy. I think if the Leafs don't make it out of the North, it is a significant upset, but they still need to show they can win a playoff series, and until they do, nothing would be a surprise. |

Good point, Montreal has more overtime losses (9) than any team in the NHL except Dallas (10)

The leafs definitely look like they’re taking bigger strides in the defensive zone. When the leafs are leading in the 3rd, I just always get the feeling they’ll shut it down now. Goaltending is the question mark, but hopefully Campbell can keep running the high and it’s not some sort of streak. |

The goaltending is a strength for both the Jets and Habs. What is a significant question mark is how the games in the playoffs will be officiated. For example is the cross-check by Copp on Matthews last night a penalty in the playoffs? Are the crosschecks by Chiarot and Weber that are not called during the season somehow called in the playoffs? Doesn't matter at the moment with the sh!tty power play, might be different in a month though.
Also the league announced an in person hearing for Kadri for Copp's hit on Matthews. |

This is why I would prefer the Oilers first. It's gonna be tough to shut down the MCD & Drai but if they can make it through the first round the confidence is gonna go through the roof. I think it would set them up better to face Winnipeg or the Habs in the second round

If we can improve our third line I like our chances even more against Winnipeg. Depending on how other playoff races shake out, they either find someone to go directly onto the third line or a top line offensive type which would move Hyman down. If they’re worried about an injury on D, pick up some insurance or if the Freddie news is iffy do the same in nets.
In that scenario, I prefer a weak D team - Jets or Edmonton, although I expect Jets to add on D. Alternatively, Habs will be worn out and won’t be able to manage three lines, so bring on them.

Trade for a top 6 forward that can help drive our 2nd line and move chucky to the 3rd line. |

14 players on the covid list now for the Canucks.
They won’t be able to ice a team in a week.
I wonder what they’re going to do. |
