I wasn’t big on acquiring Hall unless it were our only option. I think these last few days I’m even less inclined the guy looks completely useless out there even with the Sabres playing a little better. I would probably rather give up nothing and take a chance on Gusev then give up assets god forbid a first for Hall when he looks the way he does. That’s of course a last resort situation if there are no other options.

Well I want two wingers, not just one. Scooping Gusev for free would allow Lou a bit more flexibility I should think.

The only thing prohibitive with taking a chance on gusev is his salary as far as adding someone else. Maybe if Wood wasn’t available in the scenario Chiefs posted yesterday hypothetically we could up the offer for Palmieri to include Gusev with salary retained if Gusev isn’t claimed. Most likely won’t happen of course but a thought.

True, 4.5 is a bit steep. Gusev’s contract would almost certainly necessitate cap retention on any other rental coming in.

If that particular situation did happen the Devils may be close to the floor so I don’t think it would be to much of a monumental leap for them to retain some salary. With that said I have a feeling that Lameriello may go completely off the board and acquire someone none of us are suspecting. Just a feeling.

Edit; they will not be close to the floor...

I see the Islanders almost Guaranteed to be in the playoffs. Now the key is getting home ice they are not a good road team at all. They need to trade or get lucky with a waiver claim. Gusev had good numbers in the khl but not good with NJ. 4.5 cap hit and an ufa.

Gusev put up 44 points in 66 games last season. He is an NHL forward, but for whatever reason he’s struggling this year. Perhaps it’s the new coaches and systems? Perhaps Covid kicked his ass harder than most? Hard to say.

If he clears waivers, perhaps Jersey would eat some of his salary in a trade? I mean they were willing to let him go for free, perhaps they’d trade him @ 50% retained for a 4th? Thereby getting at least something for him.

So Gusev can't stick on the Devils roster but he could fit In with the Islanders? Some days there Isn't alot to write about and when that's the case It's okay not to write anything.

As an addition to a Palmieri trade or if there were no other option you do it. Reading is fundamental. Give ya (frank)ing head a shake you dolt.

I was surprised with Oshie yesterday. How did he not see Samsonov when he elbowed him to the head.

Right before Lee went down our PP was humming hope whoever we acquire gets it back on track. Hopefully last nights game is the start of this team snapping out of the funk they’ve been in.
