Carol Schram: Covid causes cancellation after Canucks lock up Demko for 5 years After Adam Gaudette was pulled from practice on Tuesday due to a positive Covid test, it looked like the impact had been mitigated. But the Canucks' Wednesday night game against the Flames was cancelled after two more tests came back positive, spoiling a good day when the franchise announced it had locked up Thatcher Demko on a five-year contract.

Have you heard anything on the whereabouts of Kole Lind lately?

Nothing after the news that he'd come to Vancouver to get a doctor to check out his...broken nose?

With the Canucks & Comets shut down, I imagine he'll remain under the radar for awhile - maybe until the trade deadline?

I wonder how this Covid situation will affect trade plans with the Canucks. False hope they still have a shot to make it? Teams wanting to deal earlier leery of trading with a team currently under protocol?

I don't really see it helping matters.

Agreed. Another reason why we have to hope that this is being nipped in the bud.

Demko

Another long term core piece. Team should be ready to compete for the playoffs in a few years

Not that I would wish it on anyone, but of the 2 candidates I suppose we're all sitting here hoping the 2nd positive is JV and not Brock...

Glad Demko is secure for the next 5 years, I think this could be a fantastic signing 2 years from now.

Ideally it would’ve been Demko. Another top pick is exciting

Really hoping Benning can lock up Pearson, he’s a great fit next to Bo

I think this will make it easier to sell if CGY gets a couple wins before we face them again.

Plan is looking good.

Plus we may have got lucky with Pettey / Hughes as it looks like Bridge deals which is perfect during the plandemic thingy years.

2 years baby...

Lock him up in the offseason after you've rented him out if that's how you feel. Tell him not to sell his house?

It’s an absolute joke that hockey is cancelled because one player caught the flu. It’s bad enough that there aren’t fans in the building. All of these restrictions and lockdown are purely political postering at this point. It’s unacceptable and Trudeau, Bonnie etc need to held accountable for their actions. It’s inexcusable that all restrictions haven’t been lifted at this point.

Pleased with the Demko deal. It’s very risky but the type of risk the club needs to take at this point. I anticipate surplus value in a few years when they hopefully are contenders

The average deaths per flu season in Canada over the last 20 years is right around 6-7K.

That's without the current restrictions to curb exponential growth.
