I would take Palmieri over Hall due to consistency and style of play. Sure his production is down a little but look at NJ's depth. Nothing against Hughes, as he will be dynamic in time but the Isles have more tools to support Palmieri.

Why on Earth would the Devils look to help the Islanders without an over payment? It should take at least a first round pick, anything less is wishful thinking!

Devils will take whatever the best offer is and we don’t exactly have the same rivalry or animosity that your club has with the devils. We did trade for Greene a couple of years ago...

100% Cpt the whole let’s not trade in the division is BS. Every team will take what the best return it can get.

Hall with Barzy and Ebs could be electric, but Palmieri seems more of the Lou/Trotz character mold.
What I think makes most sense is sending Bellows and a 2nd for Palmieri and then maybe look at getting a Bobby Ryan or a Marleau for a 4th pick and still have enough to get a cheap veteran Dman for depth

I think there’s a lot of truth to not trading in the division at times just not in this particular situation. NJ trading us their long standing captain dispels that notion. The rivalry just isn’t there between the two teams like it is with the Rangers. With that said no GM wants to trade a player in their own division to a rival that will bite them in the arse if it’s avoidable.

I think they take the best deal imho. Greene came here last year from the Devils. Also why stop at not trading in your division and include your conference. I mean that could certainly bite you in the ass as well.
Just don’t think there’s much to support that theory. My opinion of course but not much out there to change my mind on it.

If you compare Kyle Palmeri and Taylor Hall since the 2018-2019 season, Kyle has put up 60 goals while Taylor Hall has potted 29. While Taylor has put up more assists over that time Palmeri still has more total points. I'm not arguing one is a better player then the other. They have different styles, strengths and weaknesses. Just saying the numbers are what they are.

Assuming Palmeri would cost less in a trade and his cap hit is $4.65M vs. $8M, he'd seem like the better option.

As a Devils fan, I don't have anything against Hall for how things played out and I get he seems flashier and to have more potential upside. But outside of his MVP season he hasn't really delivered that. Kyle Palmeri is an awesome team guy, a bit more old school. He'd be a great add. Honestly, I want us to resign him.

I honestly think there's a very real chance Palmieri nets more than Hall does. His cap hit is working in the Devils favor and Hall has been a tire-fire this year.

Andy Greene went for a 2nd round pick..So PLamierin to a division rival will be a 1st round pick and a prospect........ or keep what you have. NJD are not trading Palmieri to a division opponent for nothing !

The second round pick was a surprisingly good return in a pre-pandemic hockey league. Not sure how relevant it is... But I think a first and prospect would certainly get it done any year. Might take less this year, but we will see how this shakes out. The division rivalry doesn't matter. We aren't going to be in the playoffs with the Islanders. We have a history with Lou and he and Fritzy can apparently work together.

That to me is the main deciding factor with an intradivisional trade.
