I haven't looked at any fancy stats, but the eye test showed the leafs out chancing the oilers, and kept the big two off the board in regulation.. They beat a 3rd string goalie in OT.

Even if I'm wrong, and the leafs were out chanced, they will never win a series with the big 2 kept off the scoresheet.

I don't know why the leafs have played those guys so well, but the oilers need to figure it out to have a reasonable chance at taking a series

They didn't outplay them on Saturday.

While they shut down the Draisaitl and McDavid, they allowed Turris and Archibald to score.

I can't believe these words are coming out of my mouth but I would not trade Kris Russell for Gostisbehere straight across.

While I think the Leafs did outplay the oil in both games, the oil made their chances count, and I don't think you can fault your goalie for the outcome last game. Besides, leaf fans have said all year that the oil only have 3rd string goalies, so......

2 more years at 4.5 mil vs. 1 more year of Russell at 1.25. Have to agree with Sean here, unless we have a major D shake-up, Ghost doesn't really fit in (and his salary certainly doesn't). Would need to pair him with a very defensive RD.

They got secondary production the other night, but I think it was mid Feb this season where they won their first game in 4 years where mcdavid or draisaitl didn't score a point..

I originally thought they needed a goalie, and maybe one or two more pieces to be legit contenders, but Smith has been playing well, and barrie was a good add..

Either way, if I am a leafs fan or oilers fan, I don't want to see the canadiens or jets in the first round...

His production has taken a massive drop off. Over the past two years he has a total of 4 assists at 5 on 5 and only one of those is a primary assist. That is in over 1000 minutes of ice time. Oilers don't need him on a powerplay. He makes 4.5 million a year for the next two seasons.

Sure, but to be fair, when those guys are putting up 1.5 points per game each (give or take), how many games in a season do you think there actually is where one of them doesn't score a point? I'll be happy with either the Jets or Canadiens in the first round, and not seeing the Leafs until round 2.

For some reason I thought he had an expiring contract.

I guess with Klefbom possibly coming back (btw, do you know how the surgery went?) you don't need an extra LD.

Surgery was successful, he now begins rehab with the hope of being ready for October.

If you can, please waive Koskinen.

I know the first one he really had no chance, but Jesus Christ, the man continues to allow goals on the first shot. It's happened at least three times by my count and probably more.

That just (frank)s over a team so bad.

Also Russell has to sit. Why was a man allowed right in front of Koskinen?

Not watching the game...

McD and Drai still on a line together?

It (frank)ing infuriates me that Tippet continues to go back to this tried and failed system.

I guess he likes giving the opponent the edge, (especially on the road). Get your match-up on the first line and coast to victory. You know our other 3 Third Lines aren’t going to score more then a goal or two.

Unless the McD and Drai Line can guarantee you 4-5 Goals a game together; split them the (frank) up!

God Damn!

I do agree that they should only use it if they're down in the third, but like it's an issue that Nugent-Hopkins and Yamamoto can't do poop all. If Nuge thinks he deserves more than 6 million, he's in for a rough surprise. His 5x5 has tanked so poorly this season.

They eventually put the DRY line together, but it was already out of hand at that point.

They need to call up Benson or Holloway when healthy, or trade for a left wing (maybe Hall?) because while Ennis is alright, he's not performed on the top 6.

Koskinen needs to be waived and Stalock needs to be given an opportunity and Russell needs to sit. That first goal is completely on him.
