Hopefully this game doesnt reinforce the notion that the Flyers players seem to have in their head that you can play 20ish minutes of good hockey and win games.

The 2 points were big, but it shouldn't have been this hard to earn them. A better effort is needed on Wednesday and in the future.

Lifted from the last thread, which is heading south rapidly as of this time.

Every day brings a new opportunity to turn it all around. Until then, if they're gonna be fumbling around, at least I hope they can manage to win enough games to stay alive.

How beautifully optimistic this post sounds.

Nvm the overwhelming evidence that this team is not going anywhere this season. Another day could turn it around.

Nvm that there is not a single young forward or defencemen of ours rated in the top 20 of players
under 23 or indeed in the under 25 or indeed among prospects in the most widely read non-parochial/national outlets.. Nvm that our vets don't figure in the top 15 of players in any of their respective positions on nhl.com. Another year or two could turn it around.

Nvm that teams without such players almost never win the cup. The Flyers could be the modern age exception that turns it around.

As our age becomes ever more secular, sports has become the sole haven for those of faith. Those of us watching from outside, imprisoned by reason, and envious of false solace, scorn but also envy.

"but for the thought that nature spawns
a million eggs to make one fish.
Better that endless notes beseech
as many nights, as many dawns,
if finally God grants the wish."

I'm positive that the Flyers playoff chances are pretty slim.

Yes the team needs some tweaks we all know that but crying message after message about the same thing seems like insanity.

How about come up with ways to improve the team, start there or cry some more which you probably will.

Agree with you, we need a trade not sure it will happen. I watched anaheim and if we could pry Manson & deslauris away from them it would fill 2 hgue holes we have atm.

Statistically, you know....we're due to lose to Buffalo one of these games.

What's going to happen THEN?

In my opinion, this team is not going to turn it around this season. There will be a hot streak towards the end of a few weeks of good play but my guess is that they will come up short of the playoffs. What I find comical though is your repeated reliance ad nauseum on lists. As if Pronman's list of top players under 23 actually means anything. Actually matters. It doesn't. Any list of the top 23 young players in the league that doesn't include Joel Farabee, is not a very good list. He's easily in the top 10 in scoring among players 23 or younger in the NHL. You actually believe that a list of NHL network analysts actually means anything. Who are the analysts who made the list. You also discount how a bad season changes those rankings. Due to the difficulty young players have in playing in this team environment.

Question, do you believe that the Islanders are a legitimate Stanley Cup contender? If so, who is the elite player on their team?

That says a lot considering he’s invisible aside from scoring

I'm happy they won, but not happy with the how. Team still has a lot of problems, but I agree, we get so negative that we're basically hoping they lose (I guess in order to force a trade or massive changes that carry no guarantees?). The only way to get back the confidence is by winning, and they have to keep it up.

I personally, want them to find a way to sneak into the playoffs. The idea is to get the kids playing better, breed some confidence and move forward. To get in, they'll have to start playing very well, and that's what I cheer for. I don't expect them to in a round this year, but experience for the kids is critically important. That and I want them to break this make the playoffs/miss the playoffs year over year trend.

I know this is not popular and it does pain me to post this, but we have to move on from Giroux if this team is ever going to take the next step. This team sorely lacks leadership from the top. After the game last night, Giroux admitted that he didn't say a word between the 2nd and 3rd periods, but instead it was Braun and Laughton doing all the talking and showing good leadership; his words, not mine! I'm sorry, though its good to have more than 1 voice in the locker room, the player wearing the 'C' should have kicked it off, and he was silent. Then we wonder why this team continually have bad starts to games, are not prepared to compete and are very streaky over the past several years.

The fact that AV essentially challenged this veterans to be leaders and didn't even go into the locker room also speaks to the problem in leadership this team has. Its time to move on from G! Next year he is basically on a 1 year $8M contract, similar to what Taylor Hall played for this year. I think there will be tons of teams interested in Giroux post expansion draft, and the Flyers should be able to get good prospects in return, and clear out some cap space for Couturier and Hart. Just my opinion, don't beat me up. Sometimes you have to break glass, or just rip the band aide off!

If Roustolianen wore orange & black, he'd be the most penalized player in the league!
