Reverse Avery

Probably was embarrassed after Lemieux got that beat down so they traded him as far as possible away.

I don’t think he was on the right spot. Rangers has no Goons or anything and a guy like Lemieux is good on talk, trash adverse team and play a gritty game. Reminds me of Lapierre/Begin from the Habs years ago. Kind of guy you need in playoff but that can hurt you with stupid penalties.

I think he will be a grit fits with LA though. Big physical team

He never made himself irreplaceable. He had the market on the Rangers to add toughness and grittiness and never developed into that player. I think it is smart for the Rangers to remove cap hits they do not need. Smart scouting can make a 4th round pick way more worthwhile than Lemiuex

Jone - 3rd Round
Reunanen - 4th Round
Shestyrokin - 4th Round
Ryan Graves - 4th Round --
Fast - 6th Round
Haeglin - 6th Round
Callahan - 4th Round

I think I made my point...

Yup, didn’t lose any sleep over it.

Wonder when the Rangers see Cuylle making the team. I think he has a real shot to be big, skilled/agitating forward we thought Lemieux would be.

Also, watched Ryan Graves play yesterday. His all around game is really solid. That one hurts.

I see Cuylle as a budding power forward style. Might need more seasoning in the AHL first to round out his game. Curious if his scoring touch will translate to the NHL though. Remember Andrew Ladd. That dude took FOREVER to develop his game.

Also, regarding Ryan Graves:

When the Devils drafted Matteau, I immediately thought this was their long term revenge plan to eradicate the hockey bloodline.

It was sad watching the flyers yesterday trying to big and bad.......also pathetic watching a below average player like Travis konecney slew footing zib and flopping like the dead fish he is begging for a call! It just shows that the flyer decade old re build will last a few more years

I don't know the Rangers as well but I assume this was a move to not lose him to Seattle for nothing. Not sure who else on the Rangers would have been worth taking for the Kraken. As in terms of one of the 14 required forward that wasn't making much money. It almost forces them to take Chris Kreider and his almost 6 million now that Lemieux is off the board.

Not terribly upset they made this trade. As previously viewed in another post, they have found some gems in the later rounds. His toughness will be missed a bit. However they have a player in Hartford who will fill that role as agitator, fighter in Will Cuylle, big 6’3” big 200+lbs and can skate like the wind. There is a bigger problem that’s still being left unattended.
The kids, specifically Chytil, Lafreniere, Kaapo.
Recently Kaapo has moved to Stromes right with Panarin but Chytil hasn’t been able to drive this line of kids, now with Gautheir on his right.
The lines need to be shuffled to spread out the top talent and help the younger talent.
Lines for Tuesday
Zibanejad, Lafreniere, Buchnevich
Strome, Kreider, Kaako
Chytil, Panarin, Kravtsov
Rooney, PDG, Blackwell, Gautheir

Also Defense, smith struggled today, again, trade him sit him do something. Reunananen is for real and can play, do it already. Lastly, where is Alexander Georgiev? Why wasn’t he in goal today?

What say you?
