9. How good has the team been with Knoblouch behind the bench? They essentially havent lost a game (Caps game comes with an *, it was a game they should have won). |

Nice read Jan. My concern is with the kids. I had a line up that spread out Zib, Kreider and Panarin so that they can all flank one of the three.
Zib, Lafreniere, Buchnevich
Strome, Kreider, Kaako
Chytil, Panarin, Kravtsov
Rooney, Lemieux, Blackwell, Gautheir, PDG
This way the kids are insulated but has a high skilled but also a defensive responsible player with them. Last night the so called “kid line” got caught chasing and also hemmed in their own zone.
The team looks different with Zibanejad flying all over, his high hockey IQ is simply amazing to watch as he cut the d apart! Keep it going boys! |

I haven't really chimed in on the Knoblough/Quinn discussion, but figured I would throw a perspective out there.
The Ranger's are playing Quinn's system with Knoblouch behind the bench. While Knoblouch's in game adjustments or talks may help some of the players, ultimately there is no change in a system mid-season. It just does not happen. With that, I would say that I look a execution of the system. If the system has remained the same, then the execution of said system falls on the players. So I would put more weight on the players finally executing a system that has been put in place than a temporary coach.
I know arguments have been made about maintaining a line or the encouragement on the bench, however, at the end of the day, it is the players responsibility to engage and play the system.
Just some different thoughts. |

Also it’s the “Rangers” system. Like you said it’s up to the players to engage and play the system. I think Zbad is finally healthy...bread is being bread....the penalty kill is tight...enigma CK is showing up.... Strome is better than Barzal...Fox is the best dman we had since Hamrlik...etc. |

Jan Levine: The Zib show again, joined by several of his teammates in rout of Flyers
Teams meet again Saturday - airjan23
Can we just talk about how good Adam Fox is? It’s unfair to compare the kid to Leetch but I can’t remember the last time we had a player like him. You can make an argument that he is the best player on the team right now next to Panarin. If you had to pick one player from this team right now to build around you could pick Fox and I don’t think anyone would argue it. It’s only his 2nd year in the league!! 🤯🤯 |

When he has the puck he slows down the whole game. His control and hockey iq is off the charts. Definitely the second best player to Bread. |

Exactly. When the players are doing the right things, it all clicks. I just have been reading some of the Quinn hate and it just doesn't add up to me.
It seems like we say that Zib was off and this player was streaky in one breath, but in another breath blame Quinn. I just don't see it being both. I think the Rangers are doing the same damn thing they did last year. Here comes the second half of the season surge. For better or worse. I say this because I am not sure how much I want the Rangers to try for the playoffs this season. I am torn. |

Just keep winning and growing. I didn’t expect anything this season but if we overtake the 4th seed I wouldn’t be angry. This team is dangerous and could be a real pain to eliminate. Exciting either way for the rest of the season. |

It is amazing how the Rangers brass have been able to 'steal' these type of defensemen. McDonough, Girardi (undrafted), Fox, Miller was good scouting, Zubov (5th rd pick)
Now we have Schneider, Lundkvist, Jones in the pipe line.
What a problem to have. |

Now they have to figure out how to get the kids up front going. |

They need to be put in more positions to succeed. I think that is a hard ask right now because they are trying to get back into the race and need to put the players that are producing out there the most. |

Thats why Im not too concerned. I know the kids are being asked to be more support players than front of the line producers. |

Yep. The way they are playing right now, the kids are literally the last piece of the puzzle.
I'd like to see them figure out how to slip VK into the lineup and then once he's settled, tweak things to give these kids some stability and veteran support.
And, while all that is going on, if we can manage to slip into a playoff spot, even better!! |

It's pretty nuts that Shestyorkin still leads the team in wins with the time he missed. I think they really have to ride him going forward. Getting Georgiev in against Buffalo and the like would be a good opportunity to give him a rest. |

You know what would be a totally fair and rational thing to do? Maybe wait for Quinn to come back to see if it’s really “his lack of presence making the team play looser”.
Man...some ranger fans really know how to suck the wind out of the sails.
I can’t believe that’s really the conversation of the day after an 8-goal win and with how well Mika is playing. |

There is a positive to being in a support role during development. With Panarin, Buch, Zib and Kreider playing well, there is no pressure for Kakko and Laf to immediately be superstars. |

He will likely slot onto the 3rd line unless he plays himself out of it. However, I could see him playing with Panarin and thriving there. |

Quinn was making Zib shoot wide and fall down on shots the first two months
Knoblauch has him hitting the net
duhhhhh, it's so simple

You have Knobby whisper those sweet nothings in your ear and see what happens to your career before you make any judgement. Quinn’s tone of voice when he comes back will have this team under .500 in no time. |

Great win last night. The odds are still very much against us in regards to making the postseason, but it’s definitely looking possible! Great for the team to be making a push, means they should be playing meaningful games right up until the end.
Agree with Jan on the 3rd line. I know he scored a goal last night, but Chytil hasn’t looked like the confident player who started the season before his injury. Very important to get that 3rd line going, especially if he will continue to center Laf and likely Krav soon. 3C is about the only question I have about this team currently other than choosing which 20 to dress. That’s a great place to be in! |
