Boris Zhukov was the stronger member of the Bolsheviks, but a good pickup nonetheless

Gives Morand a change of scene to see if he can get his career going - he clearly didn't appear to be in the Ducks' plans. Volkov was buried on the depth chart in Tampa. Both players needed a change of scene. Not sure how many good skaters with limited offensive upside the Ducks can afford to carry, but maybe he'll surprise us the way Danton Heinen and Sonny Milano haven't. Or maybe he ends up buying a house in San Diego.

A rare W for murray on the trade front. An actual NHLer for pick and prospect.... Look for him between Terry or Rico. That may work for him...

Volkov is a frustrating player to watch.

He has size, but rarely uses it to good advantage.

He has puck handling, passing, and shooting skills, which he shows glimpses of.

But, he vanishes for long stretches and just seems invisible on the ice.

He was given a few shots at playing on Tampa's top line, and didn't produce in those opportunities playing alongside the likes of Point and Stamkos.

Maybe the change of scenery will be good for him and spark something.

Tampa would have likely lost him to waivers any way.

Ducks need a few goons with no teeth and scraggly goatees who bounced around in some remote Russian leagues.

Yzerman loves him some Russians and Volkov was one of those picks where your first reaction was "Who?" - either off the radar entirely or not much in the way of scouting reports. You hate to use the old abused description of "enigmatic", but here we are. LOL.

Dude looks like some weird intense scarecrow or something with his gapped teeth, scraggly goatee and bug eyes.

Three goals and five assists in 19 games? Doesn't that put him squarely in the Ducks' top six?

He has to pass through waivers to play for S.D., so he's up with the big club. I think this move is a precursor to another trade.

As long as that subsequent move doesn’t include TT ... or I will be pissed.

Hope Drysdale is ok. That was a scary play tonight. Could have been a lot worse, just lucky it was his fall that made his head hit the boards and not the full hit he was going to take.

He's fine.. got his bell rung a little. happens to everyone... Drysdale said it looked worse than it actually was... with the game adrenaline going and the bop from the boards and all.. got a little freaked but he was fine between periods.
