Fox comparison to Leetch are interesting. IMO, Fox is actually a more sound defensive player at the same age. While Leetch had a little more flare on the offensive drive. Being that, Fox is amazingly calm, cool and collected under pressure.

I would be all in for the Rangers offering a 6-7 year contact for Fox. Fox is 24 years old, and will be eligible for UFA at 27. A 6-7 year contract will allow for the Rangers to have him under contract for 3 years of UFA. I am curious if Fox's agent will tell him to take a 3 year contact and bet on himself for a bigger payday come UFA.

Kreider leads the East division in goals and is tied for 6th in the league. Yet still read how he is overpaid as a 2nd liner at 6.5 million. Makes me laugh

I could see Fox's agent recommending a 3 or 4 year deal, but since Fox ONLY wanted to play for the Rangers, and the expected future of this team, I could see him signing up long term.

I think it's unfair to say that Fox is Leetch. That being said, I've maintained he will be the cornerstone of our blueline of the future. I'm fully confident that he will win a Norris in his career.

Two hot games is all.

Here we go back to the Kreider debate.

His leadership and production speaks for itself, and he is making 2nd line player money. Just glad the organization agreed with us Jan

what Makar and Quinn Hughes get this summer will be very interesting to see

that's why I'd love for the Rangers to do something unprecedented for them, just lock Fox up with an 8 year extension (that really would be 9 years)

8 years 50 million would be the Ryan Ellis extension

Pretty much what I expect to happen. It's the agent's job to get as much dough as possible and all indications are that that payday is going to come.
Rangers should try their best to lock him up now, though.

I really do wonder if Fox really only wanting to be a Ranger will help us with that huge contract. Maybe he won't bend us over totally. But he will be worth every penny no matter how much it is

Agreed. I'd like to see the Rangers not wait for Makar or Hughes to be signed.

I don't know about you guys, but signing Fox is one of the few times that it feels like a sure things without question marks behind the signing.

Agree with all of this.
After Fox wins his second Cup with us, Leetch will be compared to Fox.

It's cold streaks, he is a streaky player. Why I never get upset about it. He is still good at puck possession and grinding work behind the net in those times.

No doubt.
As he goes, the team goes. Or is it the other way around?

It gets the off season to recuperate. Gets a workout while TPC watches the pool video just to stay in game shape.

I thought this was interesting:

Kreider only has 4 stretches/streaks of going pointless this year. Three stints of two games without a point and one stretch of four games.

He has only had one pointless "streak" since Feb 16 (the two games against WSH last week, where he played 21 minutes/game)
