There are ZERO pivotal contests this season between the Lightning and Blackhawks. Those two teams don't even have the same zip codes. The Lightning are fine, Stop wasting time trying to find a weakness. Lol. |

The Lightning have a weakness and if they don't address it there will be a problem. They need a competent stay at home RD. Those two quick third period goals where directly to related to the RD being out of position. It was Cernak who made the mistakes on both golas and maybe he is being over worked since he is the only RD they can trust. |

Does anyone have a link to the video of Colton's shootout goal? I can't find it anywhere.
I generally don't watch shootouts and I turned off the game after overtime. I would have watched just to see Colton take his shot.

Indeed it was. And, while we are on the subject, let's mention Foote for a moment.
I kept hearing how his skating was an issue, but he seems able to keep up just fine and actually showed some speed a few times as his confidence grows. If he's working with Barb Underhill and Lightning skating staff, then it appears to be working.

Even very good teams have weaknesses. They just have fewer of them than most teams. There's no '77 Habs or '84 Oilers anymore. Tampa fans watch every Lightning game. I'll take their word for it. Sure. Tampa can be beaten. Question is can you beat them 4 times in a playoff series? They never faced an elimination game in their Cup run. |

Right side defense is a train wreck compared to the left.
Goalie depth behind Vasi is very thin.
That's the only two glaring deficiencies that I can think of.

Both fine solutions, but Tampa has really put themselves under the gun with the cap. Without knowing their contracts, I doubt the Bolts could afford either one of them without equal (or more) cap going back the other way. |

Columbus needs centers. So JBB could trade Tyler Johnson (5 mil AAV) to Columbus for Savard (4.25 mil AAV). Tampa adds Raddysh as a sweetener because Savard is a rental. TJ has 3 more years left. Maybe Seattle takes him in the expansion draft. If they do then at least Jarmo has Raddysh next season.
JBB can trade McElhinney and a 3rd to Detroit for Bernier. Stabilizes Tampa's goaltending for another long playoff run. Cooper can rest Vasi for a few games down the stretch and have him fresh for the playoffs. Yzerman can retain half of Bernier's 3 mil. So it's 1.5 mil for McElhinney's 1.3 mil.
If TJ doesn't waive his NTC then put his a$$ on waivers so Jarmo can claim him. Doug MacLean and Burkey did this years ago when Todd Marchant wouldn't waive his NTC in the Sergei Fedorov trade. |

You need to get on the horn with JBB and tell him. I'm convinced. |

Nobody. Is. Taking. Johnson’s. Contract. Three. More. Years. For. A. Guy. That’s. Lost. Two. Steps.
The owner in Columbus is cheap, yes players want out sometimes because of Torts and sometimes because of the doe ray mi. Johansen and PLD it was the $$$! |

He's playing at better than a half point per game, is the Lightning's forward leader in CF%, and has an xGF% that sits north of 50%. I don't doubt that the Lightning will have to add a sweetener, but the idea that he's completely done is ridiculous. |

I never said he’s done but he’s 31 in July with 3 more years at $5 million, like we all know. He’s lost a couple steps and he’s on a great team, you can cover up warts on a championship team.
Columbus lost PLD and Johansen because Columbus wasn’t paying them what they wanted. Remember Johansen got $8million and he’s been a bust in Nashville. Not worth the contract bust.
Lots of teams are interested in Savard, so TJ and a sweetener in Raddysh ain’t cutting it. Savard is worth more than “2 guys”

Tampa might have to add a 1st Rd. pick. TJ, Raddysh, 1st for Savard. I know JBB might be reluctant to trade another 1st round pick (more like an early 2nd) after he traded 2 of them last season to acquire Coleman and Goodrow. But if he can add Savard to that D, I don't see how Tampa doesn't repeat as Cup champs this season. |

I agree Raddysh is definitely not a sweetener. We here in Tampa need to be all in because this offseason there will absolutely be change due to flat cap, we have 15players signed at a negative cap hit of $3.5 million next season, Goodrow, Coleman and Foote to resign.
It’s now or never, again. |

Tampa is (frank)ed under the cap. Period. Full stop. No getting around it. The whole league knows it and JBB has zero leverage with the other GM's in this regard.
However.....with a fresh new Cup to show for it, cap-hell is a little more palatable. It's even more tolerable when one considers that the Bolts are well positioned for another deep run at the Cup. Nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition or that the Lightning would keep almost their entire roster intact after the championship.....even if it took some cap bending by sending Kuch on vacation to Robidas Island.
I have no idea what's going to happen or how JBB will address this. This can can't be kicked down the road much further.
