Brutal take that a team that wins 11 of 13 in a 56 game season is guaranteed to make the playoffs. Are there stats to back that up? Edmonton could be in fifth place in 3 weeks. They are already third in winning percentage with the slumping Habs just a hair behind. |

I was intrigued by "blog to come". But I'm guessing that doesn't mean today, and is simply reassuring us that the site isn't shutting down. I liked the take on Alex Stalock. Ek thinks he's going to be the Oilers new #1 goalie. Russ said he's almost as good as Bill Ranford. Hmm, the real story is the Oilers don't have anyone after Smith/Koskinen. When Smith was hurt, Koskinen had to play like 12 out of 13 games. The Oilers tried to address that with Forsberg but lost him on waivers. But now they claimed Stalock. So if Smith/Koskinen get hurt again, they have an actual NHL-calibre goalie to step in as a back-up. Not rocket science. But Ek thinks Stalock is the new #1.  |
