Top 2 lines are the same in practice
3rd line is Rooney-Chytill-Gauthier
Brodzniak, Howden, Lemieux and Pizza boy all rotating on the 4th line |

Don’t mind that 3rd line but moving Rooney to wing all but assures Howden as 4C. Rooney as 4C makes sense and Howden to the taxi or Hartford. He needs a kick in the butt, but what do we know?
Chytil back though it seems! |

Putting Rooney on that line gives them a center for defensive draws should they arise. Some insurance for Chytil and his faceoff deficiencies. |

I was reading, it's why they can't call up players like Morgan Baron right now. They have no cap space - TPC
NHL needs a soft cap. At least during COVID times. |

That is a great call. I do like the line a lot, and hope they get a decent amount of ice time. Good for Gauthier to get bumped up also, he’s been attacking the net and shooting to score. My issue was more around Howden staying in the lineup but Quinn sees something in him most others don’t. |

Agreed.
I think you're touching on the critical point with Howden. I think the coaches lean on him because of defensive instincts and his faceoff ability (relative to his team). But, that stat Jim mentioned this morning about him going 5 games without a shot on net is alarming to put it mildly. There HAS to be a better option on hand. |

Blackwell look decent at the dot for faceoffs when asked too. Hopefully, when everyone returns, Blackwell can be a good insurance on the 2nd or 3rd line for faceoffs. |

Okay Mr. Don't-Sign-Panarin. Cool your jets.
Zib is a 75pt player compared to Eichel's 80. It's not as ridiculous as you make it out to be. Your suggestion of what it will take is more outlandish than Zib and two firsts.
And it doesn't matter anyway. Like Jim said, no way Zib waives to go to Buff - Bean_Dip
Right and the Panarin signing is looking really good right now. Hopefully in the next 5 years I will be proven wrong!! |

Absolutely not of course but before Panarin went into exile the rangers were a sub 500 team and going nowhere fast with playoff hopes sliding before the halfway point. This will be year 2 scratched from the contract. |

Simple minds find it hard to understand most things. If you take your loss into account its easier to understand. |

You know it is really ok to admit when you are wrong sometimes. Two years scratched from a seven year contract, still leaves 5 more years, last I checked. But continue your silly narrative.

Honest question. With the Rangers struggling at C why didn’t they resign Hayes when they had the chance? Was his asking price insane? Seems to be a solid fit with the Flyers |

they never would have had the cap room for Panarin if they signed Hayes
they kind of made the decision to move on from Hayes and Zuccarello and use the money to keep them on Panarin

That was at the time to where the Rangers figured Zib was the 1, Strome was teh stop gate 2 and the organization had high hopes Howden and Chytill would be top 9 Centers. Looks like only Chytill came through on that. |

Using this logic, why even try to get better or even pay players to play? If they don't win the cup, it's a lost year anyway. Pack it up, melt the ice, call it a year. No reason to play games until they have an allstar team that can go 82-0 (or close to it)
This is easily the worst take I've ever seen in sports, and I'll never let you live it down. |

Pretty frustrating in hind-sight that the right move was no move at all. Rangers probably would have been better off keeping Pionk and Hayes rather than trade for Trouba. I thought it was a great move at the time but unfortunately none of the center prospects have panned out and Trouba is unbelievably one-dimensional. (I know it was 2 separate moves but they were very related). |

Can't believe what's going on with Zib. I still think they resign him because what other options would there be unless they want to unload a bunch of your top prospects for Eichel |

Another big thing about Panarin, just think of all the talent he will bring to the Rangers. I have a feeling a big reason Igor came over and potentially Kratsov will be over later this season is Panarin. And once the Rangers get some cap space over the next couple of offseason free agents will want to play with him. It goes way behind just winning with a star like him. Going to create a brand here. |
