What do you owe him when Johansen fades into obscurity and enjoys his millions for being a mediocre player who leveraged being "tall" and playing in a small market much like his boy Dubois? - AdamFrench

I'd be happy with this, arguably happier than Freddy re-signing.
Purely to watch the melt down in here. - Cush29
yeah.
I don't want him re-signed because he is going to get term and $ that I do not think he is worth and it is going to cost elsewhere (Rielly, Hyman, Mikheyev, Nylander...)
The problem is, I don't know what the alternative is.
I think another half-season kind of guy you could get for a more reasonable price and platoon with Campbell. Habs did well with Allen in that regard. Their problem is Price and that contract.

I need to hook at least two fish first.
My greatest ever trolling job was when the Sabres changed the name of their arena (they had put out a press release). I went in and said, "I'm willing to bet any Sabres fan a beer that the Leafs don't lose a single game at HSBC Arena this year!" It was on the first page of the blog.
First guy to respond was Pachla (who's a good blogger, by the way). I explained how he owed me a beer and why, we both had a good chuckle, I thought it was over.
Well, of course Sabres fans kept seeing my initial post, and responding to it immediately instead of continuing to read the thread. Soon Sabres posters were begging other posters to quit responding to me.
I think I made about 7 beers that day. - Atomic Wedgie
My favourite troll of yours was the regular posts you would make saying we should trade some of our young talent for wily veterans that could help us now.
Every time you posted that, you hooked at least one person, and you were posting that for years!

I'm just saying, if we packaged Robertson, Sandin and a 1st, we could get a wily vet like Karlsson to help out on the point...

If I were a GM needing a center I would definitely look at those two guys at potential bargain deals. I do't think this one year will cloud their entire careers, especially RyJo but it could be an indicator of a bargain. - Aaron_85
I could see the Habs taking a run at Johansen ... heck they fired their coach because the ship was going off course, they are all in on Price & Weber... those guys aren't going to get better next year as they mature. Don't believe anyone is touch Duchene... he's been a tire-fire for quite a while. Montreal needs something at center - clearly having your #1 & #2 center men as unproven youngsters isn't working for them. Habs would need to move out salary/CAP to accomodate... but they have an abundance of draft picks and that might be appealing to Nashville
According to the Athletic teams are going to lose money by making the playoffs and only a handful of teams have permission from ownership to take on salary.
If that’s true it should be a buyers market. - shack67
Teams should be able to swap salaries...but it makes sense why Dubas wanted to free up more roster spaces.
He’ll be able to take advantage of being able to just add a players salary and take salary completely off the team out of playoffs.
I don't think there is deal to be had for Forsberg at this time. - dmnted
2M retained and a Muzzin like return? The Leafs pool is stronger than it was when they traded for Muzzin. They absolutely have the pieces and a very crowded blue line.

What would a Muzzin like return look like? Adam Brooks, Roni Hirvonen and a 2021 1st rd pick?

for a sec I though you wanted to trade Muzzin.
they might have the pieces but the cap space will extremely tight
