That would be more comforting if 2 of those wins weren't in an OT/shootout format that doesn't exist in the playoffs. The Pens are that team this year that wins a lot in OT making their record look better than they actually are. - Tojo.
I agree, I get it. One thing I will say is that they do win in tight games which is something you need to do in the playoffs. That being said we need better forwards if we actually wanna compete. Sid and Geno couldn't carry a non existent 4th line when they were in their prime, what makes us think they are gonna do it now? We need to make another good line or were (frank)ed anyways. |

Oh you mean like the Red Wings in their fading years when they took a bunch of SO wins to the playoffs and then poop the bed vs. Tampa? |

If they can snag like Rackell or Palmeri that would be a good start. And I know Zuck is injured but I'm just going full health here:
Zuck-Sid- Rackell or Palmeri
Guentz-Geno-Rust
Tanev-Blue-Kap
ZAR-McCann-(trade) |

Haha yea that's true. As we stand now we'll probably miss the playoffs or get bounced in the first round. If they don't address making another line were (frank)ed, but if they do I think we can compete. And if we get hot in the playoffs anything can happen. Not saying we're a top contender by any means. |

Boyd, if it was possible would you personally go in on Forsberg? I know it seems like a long shot but I'd be trying. I'd believe it to be a better chance if they traded Ekholm first. We can dangle a LD plus whatever we can. If they say no then (frank) it haha |

Yeah I don’t think the pens have the assets to make it happen if he was available. |

The anything can happen part is the worst line of thinking. It’s what kept Holland to get the wings to limp into the playoffs every year. Either your team is a legit contender or your goalie has a JS Gigeure/Tim Thomas type playoffs. |

1. Don't think they have the assets
2. Don't know if it's worth the assets for 2 years of Forsberg before he walks
Pens are in a tough spot right now due to GMJR |

Acquiring guys and then having to attach assets to them to trade them away didn't help. Overpaying for a guy like Kapenen didn't help, jumping the gun on bad FA signings when there were bargain/value guys didn't help. Trading away PP weapons for reclamation projects (albeit Matheson has been decent) didn't help. |

Again, 7 of their 11 wins are in an OT/ shootout format that doesn't exist in the playoffs. They have 4 wins and 8 losses in regulation. They're not proving anything.
There is still some time to turn things around, but this doesn't look like a team that is a couple more forwards away from being a good team. And I wouldn't waste top futures going after a big name right now. |

I still think we can contend IF they can add a couple pieces. Like you said you went through this with Lidstrom, Datsuyk and Zetterberg so you get it. It probably all looks the same to you haha. |

They honestly need to use Matheson on the point and put Letang on Kessel's side. |

I mean the other teams had the same chance to win in those OT/Shootouts and didn't. I'm not saying your wrong by any means, they definitely need to play better but they also need a couple guys or they aren't going anywhere. Sid and Geno in their prime couldn't carry a non existent 4th line and it's not gonna happen now. |

Yeah problem is the assets and cap space you have limit the pieces you can add. |

OT and shootouts are basically a coin flip. There’s no coin flip in the playoffs. |

I say get Gusev and Tatar, but only if they can extend each of them. I would offer MTL Kapanen straight up for Tatar if they'd take it. I have NO idea what Kapanen's value would be like. |

Value isn’t bad. Probably depends on if MTL would prefer to keep Armia as 3RW since they already have Anderson and Gallagher locked up long term. |

I'd start offering Kapanen up and I hope Hextall doesn't have any obligatory feelings about him because of what JR gave up to get him. Maybe he can get the Pens a better center. |

Pettersson and Kap are probably our best options to move. I'd consider Dumo and Kap as well. |
