Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 2/28/21 @ BUF

Really need two points today against a bad Buffalo team. I really didn't like the way the Flyers played in the 3rd period yesterday so I am really hoping they can jump on the Sabres early. Looking to see if Voracek pick s it up today, he looked very rusty yesterday as you would expect. Also I hope AV ripped a new one into Hayes, that guy has got to stop screwing around and start shooting the puck, or honestly I would sit him. The Flyers need to start forming good habits and this is exactly the team that you can do that against.

In the 3rd period of yesterday's game, scoring chances in the 3rd period were 12-10 in favor of the Flyers. High danger scoring chances were 8-3 in favor of the Flyers. Suggesting Hayes should sit is absurd.

Buffalo is a dysfunctional organization. Total mess. While they have some decent players as a team they suck. Can’t see Eichel wanting to be Back after this year. Talk about just wasting away

Its not absurd. Its well known now that the Flyers need to learn to play a more north south game and shoot the puck much more. AV has been saying this in his pressers and the media around the team has been saying this also. You can see in the past 2 games the Flyers are trying to shoot more and at least in the last two games have outshot their opponents. Based on this emphasis, what I saw from Hayes yesterday was unacceptable, and I would have no problem sitting him or any player, if I had to, to get that point across.

Flyers lines have no chemistry. Hayes should sit. The comedy just goes on and on.

i have Hayes in a money pool, so i watch him closely

he's been great this year, BUT

going back to last year i feel like there's more east-west in his offensive game than i'd like, and in his short time with Giroux I feel like he's looking to set up G at times when he's got a good shot of his own and his success rate on those passes to G isn't super good

the good heavily outweighs the bad with him, and I'm sure the coaches are clear with him on what he can improve. He's a very coachable player

I wouldn't worry to much Flyer fans, we are a mess, it is embarrassing how bad it has gotten. I've seen better play in shinny games at the Nike Base then the Sabres play. Yet we have not heard one peep from are owners or GM. Really hurts to be a Sabres fan.

I think for the most part they’re starting to develop some chemistry. Although it’s buffalo, You can’t complain With the effort and win. Outshot then etc. If they keep outshooting the competition like this, I’ll take it.

I thought d played pretty good yesterday....although I think Gus continued to make some dopey plays could probably use a rest. It’s weird Buffalo continues to slumber along, it’s like they get great fortune with drafts of Eichel and Dahlin...franchise players....good drafts with guys like Reinhardt and Ristolainen. They have young super skilled guys like Cozens and Mittelstadt. They just can’t seem to get the other pieces to surround these guys. Free agents like Okposo and Skinner are killers. If any team should of hired Hextall and Burke it was Buffalo...that front office is horrid. That coach should stick to coaching soccer.

If any team could use a total management overhaul it’s Buffalo. Awesome fan support, great sports town...but a cluster (frank) organization from ownership all the way down.

They got lucky with the Bill's and McBean. They turned there hockey team over to a soccer coach, who has just neutered his players.

Do they have a better chance of winning with him in the line up or out? If you say out, it is your opinion but I would say you are completely wrong. It’s about winning.

Ownership really need some good hockey people in there. Enough of the young up and comers....someone with experience. The Soccer coach needs to go...they really have a great foundation to build around.

They had a good chance in the offseason with Dudley, and rumors are that Kim and Terry asked him what could you really tell us about hockey that we don't know, and Duds walked out.

I truly feel bad for the fan base of Buffalo. You all deserve much more - such a great hockey fan base. In a perfect world, Krueger gets fired, they hire an experienced coach that will gain the respect of Eichel, etc. I guess in a perfect world if there was a way to trade for hometown hero Patrick Kane, the Sabres’ fortunes would be headed in the right direction. With everything Buffalo fans are/have been dealing with, I really don’t have much to complain about as a Flyers fan.

Except against the Flyers, I wish your team the best of luck against the rest of the East. The Sabres have more there than they have shown so far for sure.

Not sitting Hayes but he does piss me off beyond belief at times. He can play a lot better
