Petulance and crying are emotions I guess.

Id prefer that players would wish to show emotion not do it in embarassing fashion.

Perhaps do it while it matters, while still playing the gam

He took a team that was very bad and very quickly got them to a 105point+ season.
He was not as bad as a Leafs coach as people on here state he was.

- MaximusAurelius

Sure he did, had nothing to do with new goalie and the addition of some elite talent.

Love seeig people say Dubas sucks because he hadn't won a playoff round, but those same posters defend Babcock and his zero playoff wins

If the people who are earning the big bucks are doing their job, then Mikheyev doesn't have to score.

The team lacked depth and speed on the 3rd and 4th lines. They also have had a tendency towards pretty inconsistent effort on both sides of the puck.

I don't care if Mikheyev doesn't score another goal all year. He is bringing something valuable to this lineup.

I also still believe he needs time to get past that injury. It was pretty severe. How many games did Nylander play like crap after signing the 7 million contract. It was a lot more than people have given Mikheyev after that injury.

It's not so much whether he scores (although . . . obviously we want him to), it's that he could score more, like he did last year. I also love his game; his tenacity, and his speed.

As an example, last year he was averaging about 2.5 shots / game. This year, he is averaging 1.8 shots / game. His ice time is down about 45 seconds / game on average. So he is taking less shots on net than he did last year. That said, in the last 5 games, he's up to 2.8 shots / game, which is also probably why he's a bit more noticeable. It's not just that he's making strong plays on the puck, it's that he's also turning the puck up ice and getting in the opposition zone, and more frequently towards their net.

I agree that if the big boys are scoring you don't need him to - to an extent. One of the weapons in your arsenal in the playoffs is that big lines cancel out other big lines. Your secondary scoring starts to come into play. Having Mikheyev perform this role effectively is great, but having him at the level he played at last year (shooting percentage last year was 8.2%; this year it's 5.1%; so he's shooting less and less effectively -- hints at confidence) will be great come playoff time.

Dermott has been terrific. So glad we didn't trade him for a 7th rounder.

It's nice to have a young Dman playing that well.

For me, it seemed like Campbell had a very quiet game. Not flopping around looking for loose change, square to the shooter, standing up more than dropping to his knees the minute the Oilers were in the zone. Is he good enough to be a #1 goalie? Tough to say, possibly - liked the rebound control, liked the glove hand and liked the way his mates feel about him. Great team game by the Leafs, Thornton addition looks solid.

I really liked this. I've liked his attitude since he's arrived. He seems like a genuinely likeable guy and a real team cheerleader. I even love when the team gets hemmed in, running around, and the opposition controls the play and rifles off a good shot in the end - Campbell catches it, and gives his D a tap, "Good job!". It was? Really?

He seems like someone the team wants to step up for. I hope it keeps up.

Mikheyev does everything but score. I notice him when he's on the ice. He's creating offense and using his speed to back up the other team. He hustles his ass off. He just can't finish. But he's still useful. He'll be the guy who scores 3 goals in the regular season and then turns into Chris Kontos in the playoffs scoring 10.

Do you have an example of something that might have Been said that would justify him skating all over the ice embarassing himself by fake punching guys?

To be honest I feel more relaxed with Campbell in there. Freddy makes some great saves but he’s leaky on the sharp angle shots.

I don't know if I'm coming across too critical . . . he makes $1.6m this year and next. I *love* having Mikheyev and I don't want him to go anywhere. His strength on the PK, and helping to drive the 3rd line is great versatility that I wouldn't want to lose. I'm more wondering if the injury to his wrist is hampering his shot this year, or if this is who he is offensively. Last year he shot more with greater success. Depth scoring into your bottom 6 is a gift in the playoffs, and can be the real game or series changer. Someone who plays like Mikheyev could be that guy.

Or Fernando Pisani.

Lets hope

He clearly doesn't have the production most had hoped, but he is playing well, creating chances and doing all the little thing so hat are important on the 3-4 lines

Whoaaaa....that could be a slick move. Go woke in order to catch the backlash press for free advertising. Could also be in conjunction with the potato farmers. I've been seeing Potato Head a lot and now I'm going to eat some potatoes. I love potatoes. My hometown is the potato capital of Ontario.

That $1.6 mil is one of the best bargains in the NHL. The wrist injury may have something to do with his goals being down. But he's a real pain in ass to play against and I expect him to have an even bigger impact in the playoffs.

Thing about Babs is he's not as great of a coach as some people think. He's not as bad of a coach as some people think. He's somewhere in the middle. A very good coach with some flaws. He'll get another NHL head coaching job eventually. And he'll succeed.

I was happy to see him replace Dave Lewis in Detroit. But I was also happy to see him go to Toronto. 10 years was long enough. My only problem was Holland replacing him with an inexperienced Jeff Blashill.

The Oilers suck when they’re not on the pp. If the leafs can continue to stay out of the box it will be a sweep.
