Sorry, I don’t follow?
Are you saying shuffling the lines is the solution? - 1970vintage
Sorry, drunk again.
Most predictable team and players in the league.
Yes, some of these kids will get their points, but they are not the answer for a cup contending team.
I know most will disagree because they love the shiny flashers just like the fish do, but in the end, only the ones who don't bite on the shining, survive.
I want a cup. Not a bunch of prima-donnas.0 |

In case anyone didn't know my opinion, Schmidt is maybe a 4 defenseman and Hughes is a Pp specialist.not a top pairing player, like some of you cum-guzzlers want to believe
Benning talked about how hard it was to get a defenseman that could run the PP, before he selected Hughes, now he has that guy and the coach thinks he can play run and gun because the guy is a cute skater,
Good fucken luck. |

You’re wrong. Green has stated as much. He doesn’t care about contracts, he doesn’t care about getting more draft picks (or having less), he doesn’t care what kind of mental gymnastics his GM has to do to get him good players. He relied on those two guys a lot, I’m sure he was not happy to see them go.
As a fan, totally, I’m glad Benning walked away, he should have traded them a year or two ago, but in the moment, it was the best move. - 1970vintage
We aren’t disagreeing. Green isn’t smart enough to understand they have to walk away from those signings? The guy has a say in which players Benning acquires. Would he prefer if they were on the team? Of course |

Wtf, I am drunk and looking for a fight and you guys are all being pussies, just like our team. |

Even when we suck, I love watching the team play. There is always at least one moment where they make a play worth watching. |

I disagree with your opinion of Schmidt. But I think your take is hilarious. Keep trashing him it’s entertaining |

It is all good to walk away from players, which i don't have a problem with, but, when the GM trades for a player, (plus a 3rd round pick) with less defensive ability and was a solid mentor to the teams cute skater and cost 1.45m less, that should be a concern for fans and owners alike |

Of all the things wrong with this team, why does Schmidt anger you so much? You just called him a #4 D so was the cost of a 3rd a bad price? (frank) no. It’s worth at least a first. Surely you know that. So just don’t like his contract. There are at least 10 worse contracts on the team worth female doging about |

Also, I would like to add, 3 of the bright young stars on defense, Reilly in Toronto, Theodore in Vegas and Hughes in Vancouver, spoke very highly of Tanev as a teammate and a defense partner, I have yet to hear any defenseman say that about Schmidt.

I don’t think Green considers himself an expert in the salary cap, but yes, a rational person (almost anyone here) could have foreseen that Benning would have trouble icing a (more) competitive team than last year. |

So you would have signed Tanev to that contract? No you wouldn’t. Time to move on buddy |

Good point Donna.
It is maybe just the frustration with the fan base that gets upset about other FA signings, that do not cost a pick and still cost the same.
Is Tyler Myers a top pairing guy, no but he is a minute munching 2nd pairing guy that cost 6 million for 5 seasons
Is Schmidt a top pairing guy, no, but he cost 5.95 million and a 3rd round pick.
One is subjectively better than the other and one cost 50,000 less plus a 3rd round pick more than the other.
So, I pick on Schmidt, to bring the cum-guzzlers in line about the player they think is so much better than what we had and have.

Over trading for a more costly downgrade defenseman? Yes
In my opinion, I have no problem moving on from players, but if you move on it should be a young guy capable of taking that spot or an upgrade, that is not the case here. |

Oh ok I get it 👍🏻 I also disagree with the Myers hate. Don’t love his contract but he is one of a few that actually contribute above replacement level play |

Also it brings me to a deeper issue with fans. Most fans agree Myers is a decent NHL player but hate him because he is overpaid. To me that’s absurd. Hating Loui for his contact makes sense as he isn’t even an NHL player. |

Although I wasn't on this site, at the time of the Loui signing( or maybe I was, it seems like that signing was forever ago), I was on several other sites , explaining to fans ,before he was signed, that Loui was a coat-tail rider and was not anywhere near what people were expecting him to be.
Needless to say, most thought I was out to lunch, which can be a fair assessment, if I am joking around, but on this case I wasn't and presented some good arguments.
Lo and behold, the analytic community gang effed me about everything and all I said was Loui is not fast enough to be a part of the Sedin line and contribute in a positive fashion.
When I showed certain stats with speedy players vs slower players, which most analytical guys have never heard of, they were pretty pissy with me.
They also really hate when you show success of a physical player with an analytical dream player/s vs another analytical dream player.
I will have fun reading the comments from the analytics crew, in the morning.😁 |
