Jank was apparently out with injury tonight, not scratched. - Victoro311
Chalk another one up for Wilson and long pants hockey, even though he unwittingly did us a favor. |

Horny Watch 2021: 1G 1A tonight for 9G 9A in 20 games. Not too shabby. Dumbest trade of the Crosby/Malkin era? |

Malkin not getting traded...stop. He is only a minus 8 - Malkin
Using plus minus for analysis voids any argument you have. |

Fair to say Taylor Hall has finally been outed as a fraud?

Plus minus is a stat like any other. It provides a piece of information that gives you a bit of insight into performance. It is a very broad and absolute one, which is partly why stat needs don't like it.
Geno has a bad plus minus and is playing bad hockey. |

I mean Geno could be a plus 8 and if he was still playing this way he'd be playing good hockey? |

The only fraudulent season was his MVP one. He needs to find a team where he can play a Kessel type role. He would be the type of guy that could put Boston over the top. |

Yeah, I put more stock into +/- than I do the "hits" stat. |

Could he play this way and be a plus 8? I don't think so. Again, it's not a perfect measure on its own... Crosby is playing great and is only a +1. |

Yes he could. Let's say Jarry came in this season playing at his all star level. Or Geno had Jake and Rust on his line killing it. It's very possible. |

Jarry has played seven games on fourteen days. He needs a break. He looked tired last night. |

Then they should trade him. They are a better team overall with him due to lack of depth, but he has been a net negative this year and will likely be for the rest of the year. He's certainly nowhere near worth the $9.5M cap space he consumes. Blueger is playing better at $700K. - Hockey66
Head agrees with you, heart says I want him to retire as a Pen. Heart is winning right now. Head also thinks it's too late to trade Malkin and Letang and still build a contender. |

I will say that our save percentage is not indicative of Jarry’s current game stealing level of play. - Victoro311
I agree, he's been pretty good lately. We are just leaving a maddening amount of people open in prime scoring areas. |

I agree ...show casing #28 for a big trade - Malkin
Schmidt only got a 3rd. I think people are going to be disappointed if they think Pettersson is getting a good return. |

Yea the breakdown on Bailey's goal was one of those. It's like they go into "Pond Hockey mode" |

I’m pretty concerned that Dumoulin was bad after returning from injury last season, came into this season bad, and now has been out forever. It’s highly probable that he’ll be bad when he gets back, and if that’s the case we have no answer at 1LD despite having a million LDs. - Victoro311
This is a concern. They really need either Pettersson or POJ to be able to grab that spot. I think POJ might eventually be capable of filling Dumoulin's shoes, but not yet. He needs to be breaking in on the 3rd pair. |

Vegas doesn't know how to trade, and also didn't they need to move Schmidt to get under the cap? |

They'd be better with Hornqvist over Matheson this year. But at least MM is playing pretty well and is younger, so long-term they may win this trade which isn't something I thought I'd say. So while I'd still reverse it if I could, I can't call it a bad trade right now. |

Honestly might be better off moving Dumo then, just for the cap space alone. But we'll see once he does return. |

Pretty much agree with all of that other than watching Malkin in his current state makes my heart hurt so I'd rather he try to get back to his game somewhere else and come back later for a reunion tour. Also, Letang is playing pretty well and we don't have anyone who can replace him (unless we trade him or Malkin for a 1RD) because Marino is not looking so great.
This feels like dying a slow death. |
