We need 0 help on the blue line. This blue line has been terrible due to poor structure. Even when we had Myers, Byfuglien, Trouba and Chariot, we were still giving up an abnormal amount of chances against. The biggest change that the blue line needs is a new defensive coach and also head coach while we are at it!

Also Bobby Ryan is way better than Perrault, Thompson and Lewis. He can also play on any line and makes the same amount as Lewis. Need I say more?

Yea, you bet you need to say more. You need to say you're the President of the Bobby Ryan fan club.

AHL games don't count so yes Heinola's ELC can be slid another year which is what I think Jets management hopes to do, if major injuries happen on the backend I do think they'll bite the bullet and callup Heinola but wouldn't be surprised if Samberg got the call first if he's playing well with the Moose and so far he has.

Heinola being the Jets 2nd best dman is my opinion based on what I've seen from him, the kid looks legit and Morrissey has mostly struggled so far this season, it's not a stretch to think Heinola is possibly the Jets 2nd best dman even though he's in the AHL, Pionk is clearly the Jets best dman now.

Good lord, saying Heinola is the Jets 2nd best dman is NOT AT ALL like saying Thompson is the Jets 2nd best forward.. Lol

Why waste time if one or both is ready??
I didn't mention Samberg at all btw.

No, I think you will find that Heinola is burning up a year of his entry level contract whether it's the NHL or AHL.
If it was Junior then, no, then he wouldn't be.

Nice to hear Samberg is doing well with the Moose.

Well if you call a person who drives a Lamborghini like a Chevy Cobalt a good coach, then yes he is a good coach. Even a Cobalt driver will surprise himself by winning many drag races in a Lamborghini. Mostly recognizing that it has nothing to do with his skill but the car itself.

So you’re saying Dan from Winnipeg’s DD Speed shop would be a better coach?

Interesting.

From everything I've read AHL games do not count against an ELC starting and an ELC can be slid twice, I believe sliding Heinola's ELC a second time is what Jets make hopes to do.

A few game notes from the win last night :

Niku played a simple game. He refrained for the most part from adding much offence to his game, although that really his added value. I can't fault him for that one penalty as I thought it was an extremely questionable call.

While Montreal carried the balance of the play I really don't think the Jets D gave them much with regards to high opportunity chances. A flukey goal was all the Habs could really muster. The Jets may overall may have actually had more high opportunity chances than the Habs.

We haven't seen Appleton really do that much at 5 vs 5 the past four games. His real value is on the PK. Lewis adds very little , Thompson adds some grit but not too much more. They do what they need to do though on the 4th line.PK is an important factor. I'd like to see Harkins or Vesalainen rotated in there though.

Jets are getting a bit better at defending the high zone which will become important when they face the Leafs, as well as against the Oilers and Flames.

I think there is no doubt barring some severe rash of injuries that the Jets are playoff-bound. I think the Leafs are the better of the two teams right now and have a bit more firepower . Lets see how we fare against them. Oilers are much improved as well.

In Chevy we trust. Those Ehlers and Connor contracts are looking very good right now.

Some solid takes here. I was saying last night during the game that Appleton’s game has been sliding over the past 3 or so. As much as I agree the shots by Mtl didn’t seem overly dangerous, it did feel as though Jets were being dominated, especially in the 3rd by my eyes. I’d like to see Nike get a little PP time, maybe a different look second unit with 2 d and get rid of Frenchie or Copp.

I actually think that Appleton might benefit from playing with more talented players. The kids definitely has got some offensive upside. I would love for uncle Paul to try the following:

Connor-Scheifele-Appleton
Copp-Dubois-Ehlers
Stastny-Lowry-Wheeler
Perrault-Harkins-Vesalainen

Just some Ultimate thoughts for a bright Sunday afternoon.....

I have no problem with Appleton, but don’t believe he currently has an opportunity to find himself in the top 6. There is no way they should consider splitting Ehlers and Connor, as they seem to be the most consistently 5 v 5 dominant forwards on the Jets. I’d love a return of Ves and Harkins to the lineup. I can’t say I’m a fan of Thompson as he’s super slow and not providing much of anything, I don’t mind Lewis but I don’t se why that can’t be rotating out 4th liners to get those 2 more playing time.
