I have the same problem with this one as Grosse Point Blank - it's pretty easy to just grab your favourite songs from two decades ago and jam them into a movie.
- Atomic Wedgie

Fair enough, just thought the songs played well into the theme of the movie. Not as bad as Guardians of the Galaxy though.

I think most on here havent changed their stance on Nylander...been pretty consistent from what ive seen, so not sure who exactly has changed their opinion.

Nylander is very talented, and needs refinement on his defensive game. Hell never be great defensively, or a power forward, but a player who can easily put up 30 a year with his talent as shown last year.

Look at MacKinnon's stats in his first 4 years

2013-2014 COL 82 24 39 63
2014-2015 COL 64 14 24 38
2015-2016 COL 72 21 31 52
2016-2017 COL 82 16 37 53

You probably should have labelled him a 60 point player by your logic, but then he broke out, and now is one of the best (He was a bit younger however). Nylander wont get there obviously, but to say he couldnt score 70-80 points a year is foolish

- Archaic

Mac was 18 and Willie was 20 1st full year

Nylander will score goals and he’ll leave you screaming for more when he just waves as the guy goes by. It won’t ever change, not sure why we beat the same horse every day.

Should have traded him for Hamilton 3 years ago 😜

fair point

It does feel like just a collection of hits thrown together rather than a collection of songs written for the movie

It doesn’t make me question how good they are, it adds another level of respect for producers and for the collaboration between the artist and the producer and studio guys. The story and Jeff Lynne and Petty about writing Free Fallin was great.

I also remember from the really good movie about Muscle Shoals about how Aretha was having trouble getting things going with all these southern crackers. They were working on one of her great songs - don’t remember which one - and nothing was happening until the guy on the keyboards started laying down a little riff. She picked up on it and everything took off. She’s still a great musician but the art of making an album involved a lot of other things

- Canada Cup

Not sure if it's a movie or a TV show but there something coming out regarding parts of her life.

Oh poop, just thought of the best one, in terms of making it a better movie:

Philadelphia Morning really, really makes this movie.

And Flying High Now, of course.

I hate when people do that and put a bunch of my favourite actors in it.

We spent a week in the town where that was filmed. Same house where they filmed The Great Santini and the town where they filmed parts of The Prince of Tides and even bits of Forrest Gump, Beaufort South Carolina. It’s the home of the novelist who wrote Santini and Prince of Tides, Pat Conroy.

That house was for sale (I think about $2M or $2.5) and stayed on the market for almost two years. On a beautiful street, on the salt water river in a very cool town.

I remember that. I'm a huge fan of Orbital, Chemical Brothers etc, but the techno/metal fusion thing is hit or miss

Really?

Holy Frank.

The Great Santini is in my top 10 of all movies. I hope you played basketball in the driveway while you were there.

Best thing I ever heard about the movie (my sister-in-law told it to me, so I can't remember who actually said it) - a critic said that Duvall was so great in that movie, because as an actor he didn't care about coming off as a complete arsehole. Other actors wouldn't want to go so far - Duvall just cared about making the best movie.

Then there's the soundtrack for To Die For... which I don't really remember much of except they repeat the intro to Wasting Away by Nailbomb every time Joaquin Phoenix is on the screen which is pretty cool.

What, people reminiscing about that time of their life when that music was being played?

It wasn’t an especially deep movie. It was a feeling movie where the people, their quips and the music were designed to evoke a certain set of feels. Aw, you had sex with that nice ovulating woman, nice. Aw, the impotent guy is going to live with the young sex pot, nice. And here are some tunes to go with it.

That was it and it pretty much worked.
