I was never a Rush fan, although I appreciate that they may be Canada's best ever rock band.

What you described is me with Bruce Springsteen, and The Eagles.

I can appreciate that stuff a lot more now.

They may be, or maybe it's The Guess Who.....

Best Movie Soundtrack ...

I vote for The Crow

- Aetherial

I love that movie, one of my fav all time. A good sountrack, love Dead Souls by NIN, such a great tune.

For me, I think Reservoir Dogs has to be up there. I love how the album is put together.

The Rock and Crimson Tide have some great scores. Very similar actually.

I don't really like the music on that album, but it's hard to argue with the "fact" that it's the best.

Can I play?

Reservoir Dogs has the best scene-song combo, that scene with Steeler's Wheel

It's not my kind of music either Wedgie.

Don't you find though that even stuff you didn't like from back in the day, you kind of like more now for the nostalgia effect.

and the Bee Gees certainly had some great harmony

... although the Soundbreaking series that CC pointed us to last week has made me question everything about how good most musical artists actually are.

- Aetherial

It doesn’t make me question how good they are, it adds another level of respect for producers and for the collaboration between the artist and the producer and studio guys. The story and Jeff Lynne and Petty about writing Free Fallin was great.

I also remember from the really good movie about Muscle Shoals about how Aretha was having trouble getting things going with all these southern crackers. They were working on one of her great songs - don’t remember which one - and nothing was happening until the guy on the keyboards started laying down a little riff. She picked up on it and everything took off. She’s still a great musician but the art of making an album involved a lot of other things

My opinion hasn't changed a bit:

- I actually like him
- I don't think he's on Marner's level
- He's not the most defensively committed forward
- He's unjustly maligned as a "perimeter" player
- His contract is actually pretty on par with his production
- Stellar puck control
- Streaky, as 20(ish)-goal scorers are wont to be
- He gets traded in the off-season to make room for Hyman and impending Rielly re-signing

- mjones242

I agreed with the above.
Although, his first two seasons, he was more a perimeter player IMO (rookie years - no big deal), 3rd season he was garbage. Last year he was great, I thought his play greatly improved.
For 60 - 70 pt player I think his contract is fine now. I mean I wasnt too worried about it when he signed, I thought it was 500g's too much at the time...which wasnt a big deal.

Oh, no doubt.

I was referring to cases like the Bee Gees where they were known for these incredible harmonies, and I wonder how much of that was the studio and how much was actually them. In the end, it doesn't matter. Just like it doesn't matter that Boston never started out as a band.

I have the same problem with this one as Grosse Point Blank - it's pretty easy to just grab your favourite songs from two decades ago and jam them into a movie.

On a mission from God. Made even better by having Aretha, Ray, Cab Calloway, James Brown in it. They also had a pretty good band backing them up.

I almost posted The Wall but thought it was a bit unfair because it was an album first.

Another good one:

I second this. Between NIN, Manson, Rammstein, Pumpkins, Bowie, Lou Reed, and the genius of Angelo Badalamenti, few top it
