Jesus dude, I recognize the warts on Nylander's game, but this is ridiculous. - Aetherial
what a difference these 2 goals of yesterday's game make in people's opinion on nylander.
you guys' opinions go wherever the wind blows. |

other players (matthews, pastrnak, kubalik, vrana etc. did have early seasons included as well).
2016-2017 wasn't his rookie season by the way -- and with 22goals 2nd best season as for # goals scored.
happy to take that 2016-2017 season out, but it will only mean he slides down even lower in that overview.
nylander just doesn't score a lot of goals for a player whose main asset should be goalscoring.. - MaximusAurelius
I never looked at Nylander as primarily a goal scorer, were talking about a guy who up until last season averaged close to double the assists to goals per season.
Even with that in mind, last season was his first full season that didn't come with a kicker, being shortened or early in his career... And he scored 30+ with 12 games to go. Quick math in my head says he's on pace for at least 25 now if this were a full season.
Also, you don't have to be Pastrnak or Matthews to be considered efficient at scoring goals.
Its an endless argument which is pretty stupid. |

my point is that last season - 31 goals in 68 games - was the anomaly, not the other 5 seasons.
he's on a pace for 27goals/82games this season; not even 30 goals. - MaximusAurelius
Unless he goes on a streak now then his pace will increase drastically. You are taking him after he just coae out of a prolonged drought..... |

huh, so he is really improving
imagine that, he is better at 23/24 than 19
also since he is being compared to Hyman (not sure why).. Hyman wasnt even a fulltime nhl'er until he was 24 - senstroll
Yeah Nylander between 19-24, some of that on a last place team is a great comparable to Eberle between 24 and 29 or something like that.
He also notes that Nylander was #32... so basically a top-line forward.

Wrong.
I think Nylander is a luxury the Leafs *shouldn't* afford.
That, and your analysis being stupid are not mutually exclusive.

My opinion hasn't changed a bit:
- I actually like him
- I don't think he's on Marner's level
- He's not the most defensively committed forward
- He's unjustly maligned as a "perimeter" player
- His contract is actually pretty on par with his production
- Stellar puck control
- Streaky, as 20(ish)-goal scorers are wont to be
- He gets traded in the off-season to make room for Hyman and impending Rielly re-signing |

I don't really like the music on that album, but it's hard to argue with the "fact" that it's the best. |

I think most on here havent changed their stance on Nylander...been pretty consistent from what ive seen, so not sure who exactly has changed their opinion.
Nylander is very talented, and needs refinement on his defensive game. Hell never be great defensively, or a power forward, but a player who can easily put up 30 a year with his talent as shown last year.
Look at MacKinnon's stats in his first 4 years
2013-2014 COL 82 24 39 63
2014-2015 COL 64 14 24 38
2015-2016 COL 72 21 31 52
2016-2017 COL 82 16 37 53
You probably should have labelled him a 60 point player by your logic, but then he broke out, and now is one of the best (He was a bit younger however). Nylander wont get there obviously, but to say he couldnt score 70-80 points a year is foolish |

I almost posted The Wall but thought it was a bit unfair because it was an album first.

id expect he is a 25-30 goal scorer, so on pace for 27 seems to be exactly right.
special teams/PP is what usually bumps a players totals up if they are getting good PP time they can add several goals.
again in his last 2 seasons...past his holdout he is 19th in the league in 5v5 goals.
ahead of players like Point, MacKinnon, Barzal, Laine, Eichel, Barkov.. all better players than Nylander no doubt.
I dont get why we have to do this every day

It's not my kind of music either Wedgie.
Don't you find though that even stuff you didn't like from back in the day, you kind of like more now for the nostalgia effect.
and the Bee Gees certainly had some great harmony
... although the Soundbreaking series that CC pointed us to last week has made me question everything about how good most musical artists actually are. |

Soundtrack to Grosse Point Blank is great, but I don't feel like it should count either, as the point of it was really just to load great songs up. |

I couldn't stand Rush growing up, but I think it was mostly because the kids in school who were Rush-heads (I apologize for not knowing the proper term) were mostly d!cks.
I really like some of their stuff now. I feel like I didn't give them a proper chance.
And I love the 80s cheese metal now - but I love it because it's cheese. I don't think it's actually good. |

I was never a Rush fan, although I appreciate that they may be Canada's best ever rock band.
What you described is me with Bruce Springsteen, and The Eagles.
I can appreciate that stuff a lot more now.

And here's one that everyone had, and you'd play it a few times and realize that the snippets of songs kinda made it not very enjoyable to listen through:
