Larsson isn't a good hockey player. He can't make a breakout pass and he really offers nothing in the offensive end. While he can kill penalties, that doesn't justify him getting minutes over Bear, Jones, Bouchard or even Lagesson.

Him and Russell were shelled, as per usual. When Lagesson and Bear come back, both should lose their spot, (frank) loyalty, (frank) the one for one trade. You want to win, you play your best players.

When Klefbom comes back next season (and assuming Barrie re-signs, which I believe he should), I could see the pairings being:

Klefbom-Barrie
Nurse-Bear
Jones-Bouchard
Lagesson

There's no way that trade would ever go through, considering Edmonton has no cap, they'd have to wait 14 days AND they have a ton of defense already playing. Larsson would have to go back the other way.

I cant see Barrie resigning here. He took a 1 year discounted deal to try and build back his stats and win a big long contract. If Klef is back, and we have to eventually pay Nurse, Bear, JP and Bouchard, I think it would be dangerous to have him on the books with any term. The only way I see him sticking around is with Larson gone and we lose Nuge to FA. Otherwise we need cash to resign and beef up our goal tending. I also think as Bouchard gets more experience he replaces Barries offense.

Russell is a stop gag and expansion piece. Larsson, while playing good finally, is extremely unlikely to either want to be here at a fair price or needed with our pipeline. Both should be taking a backseat unless struggles/injuries.
