Paul Stewart: Can See Both Sides of Gallagher Play

Looking at replay it seemed Murray did in fact "reset", is this not the rule?

There was incidental contact in the crease and Gallagher was, in fact, still inside the blue paint when he tipped the puck. It's no goal.

The question I have is how long is enough time to reset? It would appear Murray had a full 5 seconds from contact to when the puck went in. Now, being a goalie myself, when you are spun around I realize it takes some time to reset and find the puck-but how long is enough time? Is that a completely subjective decision?

If Gallagher resets after being jostled in the crease and is able to track the puck and tip it, I can't see it taking much longer for a goalie if he's looking in the right spot...?

You say it's a good goal if the puck crosses the line without Gallagher tipping it. Why is that?

If Murray has time to reset - Gallagher tipping it is irrelevant and it's a good goal.
If Murray doesn't have time to reset - Gallagher tipping it is irrelevant and it's no goal.

In either case, I don't see how Gallagher's subsequent involvement factors in.
