Feel bad for him, was about to hit UFA in a strong position.

He's been in the league 11 years. One night in the pressbox isn't going to change Jeff Skinner. Even Lindy Ruff would allow Vanek to cheat out of the d zone to generate offense.

Ralph is just unwilling to bend. Skinner has to operate in the boring system or he'll be benched

- jcragcrumple

I agree he's being hard on him, but it's one game. And I don't think any coach was ever as hard on players as Lindy Ruff was on Thomas Vanek and Derek Roy

Him and Risto were having their best seasons in forever and Risto gets Covid and McCabe has that injury

Really Risto was the best Sabre this short season and McCabe was certainly proving his worth

Sucks, you never want to see someone get hurt

it's inherently flawed when you consider a management position like that will dictate the overall identity of the team and the direction it moves
- Michael Pachla

Disagree
The problem isn’t that Skinner is on the team
The problem is that the coach is using him wrong
A new coach solves that problem

Hopefully this means we can get him back cheaper (not trying to sound happy about his injury, just trying to put a positive spin on it).

McCabe has some serious bad luck when he’s playing well.

This year blows up his knee. The last couple seasons when he was playing well. I am pretty sure he hurt his shoulder a couple other times

Feels like yesterday when everyone would complain about Ruff's system and how he was too hard on Vanek. Some things never change.

You know, it wasn't all sunshine and Roses in Carolina for Skinner? Rod brind'amour wanted him gone. A lot of people in the NHL said we overpaid by a long shot with the contract for Skinner. Fire Ralph, yes, but don't expect that to solve the problem with Skinner

This team has been inherently flawed since pegs bought them... I guess I rather have a coach that can actually Coach. Puts his players in better position to succeed and let’s see how the team direction long term works out.

With a real coach maybe jack finds his mojo. Dahlin reaches his potential. Kids are given an opportunity. Tage is fired into the sun and okposo is sat...

And if Ralph steers the direction to more Irwin’s and guses and Eakins, well so be it.

Cause right now we are getting the Eakins, guses, and irwins without the benefit of having a real coach.

Blessing in disguise.

If Ralph allows it were going to find out a lot about what Dahlin can and cannot handle

Andrew Peters and Craig Rivet have pretty much confirmed Lindy Ruff was basically a lunatic to Vanek and Roy.

My point is that as hard as Lindy was on Vanek, he knew that his value lay in scoring goals and would let him cheat a bit. He let him float at the top of the zone waiting for the outlet

True statement, but it scares me because dahlin with few exceptions this season has not looked like the future star he did as a rookie.

True, and there is no doubt Thomas Vanek played his best hockey under Lindy Ruff. I'm just at my wit's end with Skinner because the only solution that works for the Sabres is for him to figure it out. There is no conceivable way he leaves this hockey team for another and that means we need him to score goals. I'm just praying he wakes up from this.
I don't expect him to become another type of player, but I expect him to stop hitting the GD post if he can focus his mind properly.

Well we are stuck with him bc of that contract
So we might as well be putting him in the best spot to succeed- and that’s NOT in the bottom6

How EXACTLY am i “forgetting” that?

The Cap in the NFL will skyrocket over the next few years
There will be plenty of room for Allen’s raise

- jdfitz77

You don't know that for sure, hopefully it does, and you could be right, but like I said Agents see that too.

Yes, i do know that for sure

And of course Agents see that too
But NFL players almost always take the $$$ when they can get it
Can always renegotiate in the future

Since the Peguals the Sabres have scored 2 goals or fewer in 54% of their games.
