I didn’t say it was, did i?
What i said was that it would be of help
And it would be

- jdfitz77

In fact, you did.

"And not limiting goals
All the more reason a good defensive line would be helpful"

Which, of course is not the Sabres problem, and would not be helped by either of the twins. The problem is that we don't score goals

All Game States:
Goals For: 35 (29th of 31).....Horrible, even with very good PP boosting Goals
Goals Against: 43 (10th of 31).....not bad, PK doing nicely, 5v5 D is ok

Team Analytics (at 5-on-5)
Offensive:
Metric. Sabres. League Average
S%. 5.2%. 7.9%

HDCF. 31. 48.
HDGF. 2. 8.
HDGF%. 6.5%. 16.7%.

xGF. 11.3. 16.4.
aGF. 17. 31.

They are simply woeful at generating High Danger Chances For, at 65% compared to the league average and of those limited opportunities; they are converting at a much lower rate vs the league.

Defensive:
Metric. Sabres. League Average
HDCF. 31. 48.
HDGF. 2. 8.
HDGF;% 6.5%. 16.7%.
xGA. 15.3. 16.4.
aGA. 28. 31.

HDCA. 43. 48.
HDGA. 8. 8.
HDGA%. 18.6%. 16.7%.

They are slightly worse at limiting High Danger Chances Against, and slightly worse at stopping those chances from becoming goals.

Summary - they don't really miss Larsson nor Girgensons, especially on the PK that was absolutely horrible last season. Nor do they miss them at 5v5 as GA isnt their primary issue.
Scoring at 5v5 is clearly the single biggest issue. Lazar, Reider and Sheahan have replaced the production of Larsson and Girgensons at 5v5 having already produced 41% of their goals in 20% of last year's 69 games.
The issue is lack if 5v5 scoring from Eichel, Skinner, Olofsson, Sam, Staal, etc.

Let's burying the BS of the Legend of Johan fvcking Larsson and Gurglingson

- IonSabres

Just bc it’s supposedly “not missed” doesn’t mean the LOG line of last season wasn’t SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than our bottom6 lines this season

Maybe it’s just me,
but I’ll choose “better” any day of the week

They were a good 5v5 line,
that played against other teams’ top lines & started heavily in our own end & would “flip the ice”
That’s VERY valuable

And we suck 5v5 this year.... don’t we?

No, i didn’t
What u just quoted is NOT THE SAME as saying “limiting chances are the problem”

Put it this way
If we were the 10th best scoring team in the league.... the scoring wouldn’t be our “problem”
Right?
Does that mean u wouldn’t wanna be a better scoring team???

The LOG line was a better 5v5 line than any of our bottom6 this season- and it’s not close
AND
Having one of those lines be better, WOULD BE HELPFUL

This isn’t complicated

According to the stars above
- OFFENSIVELY YES, YES AND YES.
- Defensively, just below league average ... I wouldn't say suck, no...but could improve certainly.

Lazar, Reider and Sheahan are just fine.

On this team, I would spend 90% of the time to fix the O, 5% to improve the D.

This narrative that the Sabres would be sorry letting Larsson go, and they'll miss Girgs us just plain overblown, way, way out if proportion.

Here is the entirety of my comment, and your rebuttal where you clearly say that limiting goals is a problem, which it isn't

The Sabres struggles this year have nothing to do with either of those two bums not playing and everything to do with us not scoring goals

the LOG line was UNQUESTIONABLY better than either of our bottom6 lines this season

Wrong.

We've given up fewer goals than the #2, #3 and #4 seeds in our division

Scoring goals is the problem

- jcragcrumple

I’d argue most teams could accomplish this if they completely abandoned scoring too

Lost okposo basically too. Minus the roster spot and minutes. And the 6th skater , when the goalie is pulled.

Okposo put the "O" in LOG.

thought that line had a good 2019 season. 👊

Anyone on here wear 2xl? Got a really nice adidas Sabres warmup jacket as a gift but it’s way too big. I don’t know where it’s from because the tags are just adidas and nhl. I’d send it your way for just the shipping from St. Louis. Too cool not to regift

Lazar with girgesons will be a bigger threat for scoring and short handed goals on PK

Maybe

I’d have liked a Rieder-Larsson-Girgs line
Okposo has clearly fallen off a cliff
And i did like the Rieder signing when it happened
Never understood why some trashed it??

Yes, scoring goals would be helpful
So would improving ANY of our lines
True or false?

U wanna say scoring goals would be “more” helpful?
Ok... i don’t disagree

But improving line3 or line4 would also be of
SOME help

What exactly aren’t u getting here?
I’ve NEVER said this was our “biggest issue”
Making improvements ANYWHERE would help
U arguing against that makes no sense dude

Well, since Larson is gone it’s going to be Lazar. You can call him Larry Lazers if it makes you feel better.
IMO, he’s better than Lockport Larry anyway

Are PK sucked with Girgensons and Larsson last year, it is much improved this year, defense isn't a huge issue right know, scoring F@cking goals is.

Fitz, in the grand scheme of things, on 5v5 stopping chances could be improved, yes...but compared to scoring goals it is a a distant 2nd...like way back there.
So 3 pages of yelling about it while not making a big deal if their pathetic GF woes makes it seem like you believe it is far and away the biggest problem... if it isn't, why cry about it?

the log line had 27 five on five goals in a shortened season

probably more then we will get from eichel, hall, skinner and olofsson combined this season
