They added the right kind of toughness: the guys that can make the right play despite getting hit.
- buffalofan19

They had the same "talented " players the year before.

They added
Maroon
Coleman
Bogo
Gradeau
And a few more tough guys.

Kept the talent

Cool, I never said they weren't hit.

I said they weren't dirty hit as much as Eichel.

I watch a lot of hockey and no team gets as many dirty hits against them as the sabres.

Not only that but they are not even called for a penalty. Spears to the groin, hits from behind, dirty hits and never a penalty.

This team is soft and gives up.

Its all connected.

The team still had a lot of holes to fill going into last offseason. The ones he chose to fill made this the best team in decades and probably top 5 in team history. It's really difficult to fill them all. If he shores up the D-Line but doesn't acquire Diggs, this team looks a whole lot different, and not necessarily in a good way.

That being said, if he doesn't improve the defensive line this year, then you have more of an argument.

We spent more on the d-line then ANY other team in the league
He just spent poorly

It’s not even debatable

we're definitely not talking enough about the sabres literally not playing the last 20 seconds of the game and the coach still isnt fired

Cool, still not as much as Eichel.

Eichel has at least 5 times in the last two years was hit from behind getting his head snapped and not even a penalty.

Its like you guys don't watch the games.

All of those guys, with the exception of Bogosian, also have some semblance of talent as well, especially for their roles. They're not facepunchers, they're grinders, and effective ones at that.

Even if any of that was true, who cares. It's over for this season, probably next year too. We're doomed and nothing can be done about it. The Sabres will never be good - ever.

Also the sabres don't play dirty which is another problem.

Dirty teams win, just ask the bruins and the penguins.

Do they though?

There is a reason that most cant hold down a job on a team longer than 2-3 years.
