he is playing more like 2018-19 and less like 2019-20

in 2019-20 you could make a case he was the most improved player in the entire nhl

now he is reverting back to his floating ways

the lack of goals is one thing, they will come

the lack of effort is another

not what I would expect from the captain

- homiedclown

Agreed, for whatever the reason is for the drop off.

Or, they could invest in a LhD, they needed 1 already anyway
- IonSabres

They have needed to do that for 2.5 seasons now?!? Botts collected all the Rd. KARK has held and added to them... now our best Ld man to date is gonna be out for how long? He’s also a free agent at years end.

Soooooo

Dahlin. Borgen.

Joker in the Ralph’s dog house.

Miller’s gone full zhitnik.

Monte hasn’t looked outta place but will probably be stuck on the left side now.

Risto will be a month away is my guess

Irwin. Is well Irwin.

Davidson is well Davidson.

Bryson won’t be called up.

So you have one ok d pair. And 4 rd and Davidson to make up the rest of the lineup.

I disagree with both of you.
Eichel is among a large group of players not playing to the needed standard at EV. He is part of the problem as he is simply not playing "well".
I would not trade him, unless it is an obvious huge win. For whatever reason, he isn't playing like a Top ~5 Center.

- IonSabres

I’m not saying give him away, I’m simply stating as you are, he is a big part of the problem and as his interest in being in Buffalo declines, so does his playability and trade value

Yes to playing hurt
No if playing injured.
There is a difference...and we saw it with Foligno and Josh Anderson on how debilitating it can be.

Just stop.

- IonSabres

As I've said before, if he is so hurt he is not yet healthy after a two-week break he should never have been on the ice a minute this season. He hasn't been nearly productive enough to warrant risking permanent damage so he can play poorly hurt

am of the opinion he's shown spurts of that '19/'20 eliteness...sad part is that he leads the team in scoring while his linemates and pp-mates, olofsson and skunk, lead the team in goals...

something's out of whack with him right now

This it it exactly. Captain, leader, mentor. I’ve said multiple times he does not have the mental maturity to be a leader. We either need a clear cut leader and relieve Eichel
Of the pressure or he’s going to decline further. He does not lift up, he drags down.
As you noted, the Eichel
Of last year showed glimpses of the player we all wanted, but still showed too many mental lapses and maturity issues as well.
He is more of a Malkin than a Crosby.
Nothing wrong with being Malkin, but he’s no Crosby

McDavid is great, but he is playing in a completely jokerfied division that doesn't believe in defense.
- kingcong39

Nah. He’s just the best player in the NHL.

Meanwhile Jack Eichel has 1 goal.

As much as I am a Jack Stan he needs to pull his finger out of his ass and figure it out.

how about a coach that plays staal and cozens at least 12 minutes

they didn't even get 11 minutes yesterday despite being our best 5 on 5 line

been a rough year so far...normally i'm a half-full guy but can't see them going on a season-changing streak this season right now..nuthin's gonna happen goal-wise until players like skinner and hall and eichel start putting the puck in the net...

and they're gonna need to because we're looking at a meh goaltending duo with this in front of them:

dahlin - borgen
montour - miller
davidson - joker

This is the scary part because any hopes of a full press offense (stealing a soccer term for Ralph) requires a confidence in your defense and goalies

Do you have 1 mili-ounce of confidence that Kevyn Krueger will:
1 - be able to extract proper value in a trade?
2 - have the proper player evaluation to identify productive top 6 players fo replace the "trash"?

I do not.
1st step is to get proven NHL talent Evaluators and experienced GM to extract maximum value.
Once that is done, I'll be ready to consider reading away a Top 5 Center talent.

sad thing, they only gave up 4 or more goals twice this season

when they added hall, last thing I expected was to have the worst scoring nhl team 5 on 5

We all know they aren't changing GM's and major decisions need to made at the deadline and this summer. It doesn't matter if we're confident or ready, it's going to happen either way.

This. You don't get better trading your stars, period. Our shortest route to getting good is to get Jack and Dahlin where they need to be. Everything else is reactionary short-term thinking.
