Then why the hell aren't they playing that way Ralph?

It was noticeable as hell, especially when Dahlin moved up and carried the puck into the crease for a toe-drag shot that was stopped.
Almost like the boys gave Ralph the middle finger to his Ultra conservative, everybody below the puck mentality.

This team has the talent to win and compete, but are being held back too much.

- IonSabres

Exactly, amazing how different Dahlin looks when you let him loose. He's having them play backwards hockey, and obviously it doesn't work very well with this group.

I actually had hoped for montour. He was good in Anaheim, still young enough to teach

More teaching the young puck mover to blue line and pass... Ralph neutering the d, so much fun!

Last year he was injured, put on the left and right side, sometimes in the same game with a revolving door of partners.

Give him a consistent partner, play him on the right, and let him wheel. If not, trade him... sadly with the McCabe injury, it puts the left side in the d in some distress. Looks like Davidson draws in or someone is playing their off side. Because we won’t see a kid brought up.

The conservative garbage system is unwatchable. We are clearly not a playoff team and clearly need to make more adjustments over the summer so why not play housleys style? It might have worked if we had this team and Dahlin had some experience under his belt

I agree. Montour has never had even a 1/2 season of a fair shake. We are LD short and RD heavy. Writing is on the wall I believe.

Oh right because he isn't 5th all-time in .ppg scored in NHL history...

I'd like to know where this rhetoric got started about the Canadian division. They have four teams over .600 win %. The only division in the NHL this year that does.

- 3rd GM's the charm

The Canucks and Senators are horrendous defensively, and the other teams aren't much better. Each team gets to play those 2 horrible defensive teams at least a combined 16 times.

washington, pens, flyers, and sabres are pretty much just as bad if you look at their numbers vs the worst 4 teams in the canadian division

matthews
marnier
mcdavid
leon

they are literally 4 of the best 6 scorers in the nhl right now

and they were last year in a different division

I guess my question would be do you think the Sabres would be more successful because they play the Canucks and Sens 16 times instead of NJ and NYR?

My rant for the month.
It’s trade Eichel time. He is so disconnected, emotionally drained. The team feeds off of his lack of intensity. We had some guys step up yesterday. We played 2 good periods and still barely held on for a win.
Eichels stock is very high right now. Do we really want to wait until he’s completely checked out, demanding a trade, and we have to settle for a shi!!y first, a prospect that won’t pan out and a salary dump?
That’s what it will come to.
Cozens is our future 1st line centre. Let’s build on it

- lulags

Counterpoint : I disagree with this entire viewpoint. He's fine, playing well, and the bounces will start going his/our way.

Boom.

as we play more games

hutton's numbers are getting closer to average

he has a better save % and gaa then reimer

reimer is 8-1 in his 9 games

sabres struggles start and end with even strength goal scoring

I disagree with both of you.
Eichel is among a large group of players not playing to the needed standard at EV. He is part of the problem as he is simply not playing "well".
I would not trade him, unless it is an obvious huge win. For whatever reason, he isn't playing like a Top ~5 Center.

he is playing more like 2018-19 and less like 2019-20

in 2019-20 you could make a case he was the most improved player in the entire nhl

now he is reverting back to his floating ways

the lack of goals is one thing, they will come

the lack of effort is another

not what I would expect from the captain
