No we aren’t. It’s ridiculous you put it this way. That’s like saying even if you bring in anyone new it’s a rebuild. If that’s the case every team has been rebuilding every year. Again ridiculous. Rebuilding requires the tear down of your core. That hasn’t happened for a long time. Our core is basically Eichel Reinhart Ristolainen and McCabe. Hasn’t changed since ROR and Kane were traded.
- Jammerz04

The first core was ROR, Kane, Okposo Lehner, Eichel, Risto and maybe Reinhart. That was (mostly) disassembled.

Pieces have come and gone since then so it's hard to say who has been a core piece at any time. At various times we've tried to make Okposo, Mittlestadt, Dahlin, Skinner and Hall core pieces. If you're just going by seniority than Girgensons and McCabe are core pieces but I dont think I would label them that. To me, there are 4 pieces that have been part of different cores at different times (Risto, Okposo, Eichel, Reinhart). Skinner, Dahlin, Cozens and Hall are in the core currently.

If you move Eichel, Risto and Reinhart because you hate the core, you're left with the immovable Skinner and Okposo as the center pieces of the core.

The talk of trading Eichel because the core sucks is the same logic used to move ROR and will net the same result - good player out, problematic pieces still in the core - however you define it.

Yeah, he's great.

If there was a 2014 Nhl redraft , I'd still take him ahead of drysatlyl.

Great leadership. Team has been managed well and ownership is perfect.

Removing the best pieces of a core and leaving bad, expensive players is the best way to keep doing this year after year. Blaming Eichel or Reinhart gives the fans a nice scapegoat but completely ignores the dozens of factors that led us to where we are. One of those factors being trading objectively good players after killing their will to live. Following this model, we will do this to Cozens in 5 years when all the pieces around him sucks because we traded our best players for a hill of beans

And if anyone thinks the Pegulas can win an Eichel trade, I have a wonderful parcel of magic beans for sale in Lockport

Fun thought for the day:

Imagine if we never traded ROR and we had him and Skinner on a line together? This team would be cruising to it's 3rd straight playoff birth.

Instead a guy played hockey near Eichel and his butthole started hurting and now he might be pouty boo-boo- man the rest of the season.

We really did lose the McEichel draft.

Lucky for Matthews he didn't end up here or we would have ruined him, too.

I think trading Reinhart would be one of the all-time worst moves in franchise history.

He should play his entire career here.

Unfortunately, you need to give up pieces of value to fix this mess. Reinhart is one of only a few that fits that bill.

It's a shame that Beane kinda messed up the D line situation. If he had not signed a couple of the re-treads and canned Murphy before the season we would be primed to do a little discount shopping. Plenty of good names available.

I'm 50/50 on whether you're trolling, but the narrative at the time was that ROR was ruining Eichel, and now that we still suck it's that Eichel ruined ROR. In 5 years when we still only have 2 good players we'll talk about how Cozens is ruining some kid named Skylar because Cozens hasn't fought in 40 games

Might be, might not be. Everyone cries about ROR, we really didn't do anything with him and who's to say we would have if we still had him.

I meant about Eichel not playing tonight.

But the proof is in the pudding, we trade ROR an he wins a Stanley Cup as the apparent missing piece to a Blues team that never could get over the hump.

We keep Eichel and get worse each year since no matter who the coach or GM is and no matter what players are brought in or out of the lineup. He's on the edge of a complete break-down after every game on a level that's starting to rival Ryan Miller and we are some how as of this exact moment at our worst, lowest point quite possibly in franchise history.

In 5 years we'll be talking about how the team folded and ceased operations, and maybe it was worth it for that Super Bowl win...
