I play with a group of guys and we have a defenseman who never tries and I hope he is not on my team when we throw the sticks in the middle.

When he is on my team I only try on offense because when the other team gets the puck they just skate around him.

So why bother playing defense I just play offense. Maybe its a sheety attitude and maybe I know that no matter how hard I try if that other guy doesn't try they will score anyways.

- sabresfan69

I'm go 100% the entire time.

100% forward
0% defenseman

I know exactly what you're saying, in regards to the psychological effects of poor effort teammates.

We had a really swell gentleman for year's as a goalie.
"Sorry guys" with a Canadian accent every goal that went bye. I liked the guy, but winning.... was rarely on the agenda.

strangely was our "#69" guy. We were teenager's 🤔

All of these numbers are conveniently ignoring the fact that our top 6 is getting outworked and outplayed.

Coaching is a huge issue.

So is 3/4 of the roster that are useless too through.

Everything is rotten.

They need a 1A/1B goalie to pair with Ullmark.

6/12 forwards on the roster need to be changed out.

4/6 defenceman.

It’s just a giant disaster.

Stalock is better than most realistic trade options. Would love to know why they passed.
- Lunaion

My guess at why they passed:

In November, Stalock was stunned when he was diagnosed with myocarditis — an inflammation of the heart muscle — after testing positive for COVID-19. The risk with myocarditis is it can lead to cardiac arrest or sudden death, especially if an athlete gets his or her heart rate up.
He abided by doctors’ orders and did nothing fitness-wise for several weeks. In mid-January, he flew to Boston, saw a specialist and was given the green light to begin working out and slowly get his heart rate back up. By the time he was really expecting to ramp things up, last month’s Wild COVID-19 outbreak occurred, which delayed things for him another couple weeks. But, in the past couple weeks, Stalock has started to get on the ice and last week even backstopped the taxi squad for a practice.

I would trade for a goalie.

You know you saw Tim Murray go and get Lehner. It was a bad trade but Murray knew it started with the goalie.

I don't think 6K is ready and Ullmark is not proven enough.

Even when some goals are not Hutton's fault you don't see Hutton make those big saves the team can rally around.

Bad goals kills everything, momentum and your willingness to try.

- sabresfan69

How much more from Ullmark do you honestly need to see? He’s progressed every season. If you don’t reward him by at least bringing him back as part of an improved tandem, you’ll see him thrive elsewhere. Ullmark is good, and was proving it this year.

couldn't be worse

and for everyone who says we can't keep changing coaches

we can't keep having bums behind the bench that hold the team back

they tuned ralph out

kevyn did his presser, and 5 minutes into the game the sabres reverted to the old ways

when a gm's speech only lasts 5 minutes, you know they quit on this coach

if your keeping ralph, you better turn the core over and move everyone not named cozens or dahlin

Our top 6 should be good enough.

Hall on NJ was winning games for them the guy won the heart trophy

Hall in Buffalo? Invisible.

Coaching has been trash since Lindy Ruff got fired.

I think coaching is to blame for the past 10 years.

Maybe I am being biased but I think the right coach turns this around.

I know a lot of people who are reluctant to be critical of our local teams and heroes but they can all see this guy loafing around. I can't name one friend or associate that has anything nice to say about him anymore.

Again, to me thats coaching.

Coach deploys the lines, usage and motivates.

Coach isn't going to make all 20 players better but it will be better than this trash.

So what do you offer him, to keep him from hitting UFA? An average starter makes 5m. Willing to go there on a long term deal?

Jack Eichel has more given talent at hockey that Allen had at football coming in. Allen refuses to lose and for that we've learned to forgive his mistakes.

All those negative things that were said about Jack Eichel pre-draft are all true and we thought it was just slander.
