I have a question, because I honestly don’t know the answer. Does the NHL and teams of the NHL have to approve the move of a team?

If a new owner were to come in and even through the vetting and negation process, couldn’t the NHL say, the Sabres won’t be approved for relocation or won’t be considered for relocation until other teams that are not meeting attendance goals are met?

Why would the nhl want to spurn one of its strongest markets when you have teams like the panthers and ‘yotes that can’t sell out to save their lives?

Why would a move to Hamilton make sense? Would that not be pissing in the leafs backyard?

Wouldn’t the currency exchange from the US dollar to the Loony hurt the franchise?

I honestly don’t see the NHL allowing the Sabres to move.

But I’m certainly no expert, not a busy executive, I didn’t sleep at a holiday inn, and I’ve been waiting at the airport for Oli for, well, longer than I care to admit.

Jack and tage to LA for Byfield and one of Turcotte or Kupari

Jack and skinner to NJ for Hughes and Smith

Jack, Mitts, tage, laaksonen (sp) to ANH for Zegras and Drysdal

Jack and tage to Rangers for Lafreniere, Chytil and Zibanijad.

I’ll take any one of those. All lower our cap. Get us younger and deeper IMO for the long run.

Trade Sam and Montour to Calgary for Tkchuck

Hall for a 1st
Risto for a 1st

Don’t think Ottawa has any interest in veering from their plan. Young, good and cheap. So don’t see a trade there.

- Fattony1187

La has the most C pieces to give, plus Kaliyev would be nice, still don't think they give up Byfield. And that shouldn't deter from still talking with them, they could help if we are trading Eichel. Which I hope we don't.

If Byfield is out,
then it’s gonna have to be something like :
Turcotte, Villardi, Kaliyev & two 1sts
Plus we’d take back whatever Cap dumps they’d need us to

Yes, and the league was instrumental in keeping the Sabres here after the Adelphia fiasco. The blackberry guy tried to buy them and move them and the league said no.

Honestly I have no concern about the team moving. It's a ravenous hockey market (when the Sabres are relevant). This article basically lays out how the league gifted the Sabres to Galisano

https://www.google.com/am...b8d-ea60ff8e35cb.amp.html

"The deal was valued at $92 million, though the actual cash payment was $15 million."

If it is sold, they'll stay. The Pegulas would see to that. I'll give them that much

I’m not too familiar with him. But the above trade even without Byfield sets us up for a real team for a long time.

Get Tkchuck from Calgary for Sam and Montour and trade Hall and your really young and loaded with picks.

Might suck for another two years but your core is 4 years younger than Jack is now so your already on a better time line age/contract wise. You have three centers and lots of chances to hit on a few impact players

Maybe the nhl likes an 8 team canadian division?

Move buffalo to Quebec and have more dream matchups nightly?

Toronto/ Quebec rivalry instead of Toronto/ buffalo

I'd blame crags for this too

I may be dreaming here, but:

Sam + for Matt Tkachuk
Quinn + for Brady Tkachuk
*Ottawa was rumored to be considering him with the 5th pick

Then we could either give that a shot with Eichel still - OR - trade Eichel for a big return & let the Tkachuk bros take over the leadership roles on the team

makes no sense they’d let Buffalo move

I like your line of thinking, matt tkachuk though is a really good hockey player.

Sam and montour - probably need to add 2 more pieces.

Like an extra pick 2 at Panera's:

joker / mitts / borgen / risto

I like Matty T, but he’s not getting an Eichel type return
Plus, Calgary is supposedly getting fed up with him

It’s still probably a long shot, but worth the call

Yes, that's a good point.

Hamilton is close as well. If not Quebec.

Saw the Sabres play a neutral site game vs. Vancouver in the 1990's there. Mogilny had the hattrick.
