Agree, just going of the 24 or younger thing
- Buff36

and he turned into more of a set-up guy as well, but it was a good comeback at my post

But you were previously. I just want to know why anyone would want to give this group the opportunity to do that. There is nothing in their track record to assume this will be anything other than a disaster
- jcragcrumple

We use analytics.
First draft they select a player that is so contradictory to that.
Continue to use players who are god awful and bench players with good underlying numbers because they know more than us.

Sounds a lot like what many said about O'Reilly.

That worked out well.

I'm sure trading Eichel would work out well too.

- kingcong39

I still don’t think trading ROR was the issue, but the return itself was the issue.

It all falls back on ownership and management.

The mismanagement of talent, assets, cap space is what has doomed this franchise, not tanking for elite talent.

solid point producer in a top-nine role...not quite a 'woof' worthy response but solid
- Michael Pachla

Just pointing out that it makes the already bad return look worse. What I would give for a solid top-nine role that produces points. That woof enough of a statement for where the franchise is?

Yzerman would go through a wall to win.

You see that from Jack? He pouts.

(not saying I want him gone, per se. Just don't compare one of the greatest NHL captains ever to Eichel)

- Powerslave

yeah comparing eichel to yzerman is like comparing mike weber to schoeny

Cause I through out teams and trade scenarios because of all the talk. Pretty much said I wouldn't unless it came right down to it. And I agree he deserves the criticism he is getting.

There is all most a ZERO chance Jack Eichel gets traded anytime soon. Maybe when he has a year or 2 left on his contract but no way he gets traded right now.

This team has way more talent on it that what we are seeing. I also believe that Jack is hurt and has been all year. He never drives the net or uses his outside speed anymore. I am thinking he might have a knee or hip injury..

This coach is clueless. Plain and simple, Get rid of him first.... I would NEVER trade a top center in the NHL, they are way to valuable..

a lot of this falls on the owners

you can't have a plan with murray, and then have the owners say try to win now

and then go with botts for a 5 year trickle up plan, and give him 3 years

and then go with the warped board inexperience gm for better communication and have little communication

doesn't make him any more mature then a few years ago though
- homiedclown

it does, however, severely hamper his ability to carry the large number of passengers this team has...like he did last season

For years Red Wings fans said that "we haven't won anything with Yzerman". But their management was smart enough not to move him. You are pretty much guaranteed to make a mistake by trading a young star.
- Slump Buster

Yzerman is arguably a top 10 player in NHL history. Jack isn’t even a top 10 player in the current league. No comparison there

Two things Buffalo sports fans hate about their star players.

1) They make money
2) They are so talented at times it appears they are not trying as hard

Just wait until Josh Allen gets paid.

The Fanbase will turn on him too.

- ImThatGuy

Jacks been getting paid for years and the fanbase has not turned on him. Even though we have not sniffed the playoffs since he entered the league.

Hes the captain. Act like it. Maybe after all these years of being losers and being fed lies and saviors the fans had enough.

I am done with the excuses for this team not to win

jack's not sure if he is working at an ice cream station or as a bakery with the floats and turnovers this year

do they have to trade him, no
should they listen to offers, yes

I still say it's an offseason move if anything

Plus winning in general helps a ton. I would much rather come to work when things are great and the team has a chance to win than when I know I am going to lose every night.

I'm not disputing your points on the coach.

I still do think we need some LIFE on this team, and when a guy like Clutterbuck goes over the boards, he's not only breathing life into your team and maybe popping in a goal here and there, but he's also giving skill players more space and courage to do their thing.

But again, I'd like to see a real coach get a chance w this skilled group before we blow it up.

- Powerslave

Wasn't this part of what Eric Staal was supposed to bring? Tireless work ethic from a veteran presence?

None of it matters when the coach employs an emotionless style of hockey

Cal Clutterbuck would look like Cody Eakin here

If that was the case why did the fan base want him out at that time? It's the same nonsense here. People aren't considered to be "one of the greatest" until they win. He didn't win for a long time.
