Well played 🤝

I look back to Sam's comments a couple years ago about the goalie needing to step up. He then " clarified " the comments, but I think he spoke some truth.
* not judging Sam, I think he showed some leadership holding his teammates accountable.

Hutton was brought in for leadership. A career back up goalie.

I like pissed off Sam. Wish we got to see that more than once a year.

Ullmark was the only reason they were in the games so I suppose they figured they are fxcked if they have to start scoring 3 a game like they should.

That's kinda my feel too. Defeated before you even start playing.

Especially eichel, sam and McCabe gang, probably hate hutton.

We all see it, they see it in practice too.

I like Sam. Sam reminds me of how Briere just needed to be in a better situation for his value to be realized.

Oh yea and Mcdavid and Leon feel the same with there goalies they have been provided since they entered the league.

Never heard any word of them quitting??

Its time for us to stop accepting losers and losing. But yes lets give the players that have been here the longest a pass.

God its like the Pegulas are CNN and Fox News combined and they are force feeding sabres fans that losing is OK. And by the looks of it, its working. Not me god. Not me

I'm pretty sure I said that I'm fed up with it, doesn't mean that I can see what is right in front of my eyes. I don't see anyone saying that it's ok, just summizing how they could be this bad. Dahlin said it in his post game. The team needs some heart. So me saying they arent playing with heart is hardly a pass

I totally agree with you. This idea that they feel defeated before they start is not the attitude of a true pro and if that’s where they are at this franchise has bigger problems than anyone could imagine.

Like Hamilton's article and many others have said, this is a small, soft team that doesn't compete. Who has a system to maximize that?
- Lunaion

When you say small, you mean they play small, right, because they don't look like to be composed of diminutive in size players based on looking at the roster.

Even the 17 year drought of the bills I never felt like this. Most years they had little talent but you could see they gave it there all.

These group of “ leaders “ is a total embarrassment. We are the laughing stock of the league. But I at least am very happy to be here

I think what you said above is an incredibly much too simplified way to look at things.

My guess at what has been going on is Ralph is enamored with the Islanders style of play, as he thinks that's what wins games, and he leans into that using the goaltending as a crutch to say they need that style (low event, low chance) to fully support the abilities of their goaltenders.

Hell, Ralph has said he believes the team plays its best when they have their cycle game going.

I think it's entirely realistic to believe Ralph has completely misread the best skills of his best players with employing a style that does not accentuate what his best players do best.

I'm in no way saying it would mean the team would suddenly be a world beater of any kind, but I believe you would be seeing a much more cogent offensive attack and a far greater rush attack, consistently.

Think how many times the team looks disjointed heading into the offensive zone and how often there is a lack of player support in the offensive zone.

It happens all the damn time.

I had to ask because I've seen many say they are small in size too and I don't see that.

I agree that they play small, but knowing that, why the (frank) employ a coaching style that relies on heavy board and cycle play if that is not the skill of your team?

That doesn't make sense to me.

Sure it can be more then one thing. But are you going to say that this team has looked remotely interested in playing hockey since Ullmark went down. Like I said, they got knocked to the mat and haven't gotten back up

They have had other stretches in this short season so far where they have also looked uninspired. It's not just since Ullmark went down.

They also looked very uninspired closing out last season as well, while attempting to play the same system.

They have some height, not so much strength. They don't put to any real use. They play small for sure.

What do they do well enough that a simple coaching change would matter? I just don't see anything. I know some will say transition, but the odd man rushes we've gotten have produced next to nothing all year.

So uninspired because the system sucks, uninspired because Ullmark went down, uninspired because they feel they can win. All seems to go hand in hand to me. Leadership is incredibly lacking, regardless of why they appear uninspired. Whether it be from Ralph or the players

Perhaps. When millions are put in front of you to play a game.. idk what to tell you. All I know is Ullmark goes down and suddenly 22 "pros" don't give a poop
- SDSabre

You really think they gave a poop against NJ, this has been going on for more than the last 2 games.

I can say without a doubt that these last two games have been the most uninspired I've seen in a long time. The scores might as well have been 10-0 each game

Maybe it's more about the coaching then it is the goaltending. Because if it's the goaltending, clear the front of your net, stop pushing players into your own goaltender, stop letting them take 40 shots a game. Stop being part of the problem.
