Well at the time. “Money was no object for the Buffalo Sabres”. If you have to over pay to to show your gm or president that you’re actually serious about staying on the yacht and not interfering in the hockey operations, well then that’s what you do.

Maybe if you don’t act like you’ve won multiple cups while discussing an opportunity with your club to a respected hockey guy, maybe you have the help you need.

Maybe you could attract a real coach (if that is indeed the issue) if you had an actual management structure that included a president, gm and coach.

You call Gillis and ask what he wants to come in and fix it. You write the check and go sit on the yacht. If the Mrs wants to play game day experience, beat nacho vendors over the head for a better deal on cheese and develop the 20 square blocks around the arena, I could care less. You let an experienced, successful, hockey mind do hockey things at the top. Again, look at Pittsburgh. Mario and Ron didn’t think they knew better. They knew they needed a president and gm to navigate that team moving forward. They went and hired a successful, experienced president who brought in his gm...

It was going good until the last sentence.
Burke was brought in independently of Hextal and vice-versa.
One did not hire the other.

Ok. So a little goof. But, they still brought in a successful experienced president and an experienced, successful?, gm... more structure than the Sabres have had in YEARS!

Do the potential gms have a choice in your senario?
Can they say no to Buffalo?

Or

When terry calls them. They have to say yes?
Like a dictatorship?

Curious? 🤔

Who is Laine playing with again?

Put skinner where he belongs for a stretch of games and he will light the lamp.

Skinner. Jack. Samson. Hasn’t been done in any consistency for 2 years.

- Gr8daygo

Naw, it’s not letting you not get away with your opinion. It’s not letting you contradict yourself. KO and Irwin are the same, veteran guys who no longer have it.

If this season is about keeping Eichel when Irwin plays should be bottom pairing minutes. That’s been my whole point. If you don’t like my view fine. Hand shake emoji

- SDSabre

I disagree completely, but respect your opinion and banter.

Okposo is an alternate captain, and probably a respected vet.

Has irwin really been that bad? I'll keep a closer eye out.

I'm gonna keep a close eye on irwin tonight 👍
Not letting me off ..m 🙂

Thing is : okposo has been completely shot for years. We have all seen this, game in game out, season in season out.

We are down our best 2 defenseman in risto and McCabe.

They both play a lumbering tougher game ( as well as borgen) . It's replacing a player with a similar veteran style of play.

You %1000 skinner sure, get what your asking for :
No surprises with the vet

Patrik Laine btw:

11 gp 8 goals 5 assists 13 points

Jeff %1000skimmer

12 gp 0 goals 1 assist 1 point 🙄

- Boss34

Okposo played well last year

And who gives a sh!t about Laine?!
What’s he got to do with anything???

I like this alot. Well spoken.

I think we discussed turning over management and a new owner yesterday. Made sense to keep reiger/lindy

i need at least 6 more years before i can be sure this team doesn't have what it takes, at least 2 more coaches, 3 GMs, minimum, 2 more Girgensons's and a couple Larry's (maybe even one in net) and 2.5 more bottom 3 finishes to get Jack a supporting cast and see how he plays with actual talent around him

With an inexperienced gm. Why can’t we ever have an experienced gm. Why can’t we have an experienced president. Why can’t we have an experienced consultant. That is also 1 experienced coach that jack couldn’t stand. One experienced coach that had been away from the game forever. A coaching gardener. The hot assistant. The soccer czar that’s never coached a full season. Just go hire Bruce or gallant and be done with it...

They (the owners) have made one garbage hire after the next... it is solely on their shoulders due to their ignorance or arrogance. I’m not sure which one...

- Gr8daygo

Experienced GMs that are available got fired for a reason

Beane wasn’t an “experienced gm”

We’ve just had some guys who made some bad decisions
GMTM was the worst

And I was fine with keeping Darcy and Lindy at the start. But a president or an “executive consultant” should have also been brought in. Or when you decide to let Darcy go, that’s when you instill the president, gm... etc...

At this point, I know and realize we are stuck with Ralph and that doesn’t look like it’s going to end well... if and when Ralph is sent packing, just bring in a real hockey guy to sit atop the organization.

At some point, you have to do the one thing you haven’t! After 10 years, I think it’s that time.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the Ravens are allowing OT Orlando Brown's agent to explode trade scenarios.
The 2018 third-year pro has decided he's a left tackle after ably filling in for Ronnie Stanley in 2020. The Ravens are going to require a genuine haul to trade their mauling right tackle, but a disgruntled player who is presumably not amendable to signing an extension, Brown would fetch an early-round pick. At least "exploring" a trade makes all the sense in the world.

I'm sure he would cost a lot.
