Teams keep giving him contracts.

I'm serious with this question: What the hell does that even mean?

Teams constantly give mediocre to bad players contracts.

Can the Sabres not be one of those teams, for once?

If everything went to plan, and he played 10/15 games with minimal TOI, I couldn't care less. Problem is he's starting to get 2nd pairing minutes, and appears to be a regular now (I know, injuries. Well aware why. Just blows)

Not sure that warrants a call-up, after 5 games of professional hockey, over a guy that's played almost 370 NHL games.

I'm being serious with this question.

Have you followed Matt Irwin's career to know how he's played over those 370 games, or does he just suck because you've seen 7 of his games?

He's obviously serviceable enough where teams keep him in the league. He was signed as a depth defenseman to play in a pinch, and certainly would not play if McCabe and Risto were healthy.

Again fair. He did play with McCabe and Risto healthy tho. I guess it's frustration with the injuries, and the whole team in general is setting in. Irwin is just the new whipping boy because he's playing even above others. We don't watch practice tho, so who knows.

This is funny in that we hear things differently.

I heard a bunch of cream puff questions to Ralph about Skinner...yes, they at least asked.

The "grilling " occurred after he hung up and after the commercial break. They then spent 20 minutes between them (Jeremy & Howard) discussing points of contention with Ralph...why didn't they ask follow-up questions when he was on the line.

Complete BS, IMO of course.

- IonSabres

they did well...

about five and a half minutes were devoted to skinner

first question, revolved around the reason behind letting him, a vet, sit out as opposed to a youngin and basically what good it does...

next, what should be his role on the team

followed by, why would a team struggling 5v5 simply bump a noted 5v5 goal-scorer up to the top-six, after which there was a pause

not sure how much more you could ask save for:

"hey ralph, why you hatin' on skins like that?"
"whachu got against him?"

You guys are funny, so seeing what you have in your young players is wrong when you know what crap you have with your older ones. With some of the energy some of the young players have injected into the lineup the last few games, I wouldn't mind seeing more of it, instead of the same boring crap that was on the ice earlier on.

A coach gets credit for continuing to make a bad decision? Why? For being dumb more than once?
- kingcong39

In the short term the decision has the team playing some good hockey while being short staffed. How this plays out no one can be sure. Just maybe Skinner gets back in the lineup, scores some goals and works hard enough to please Ralph. In that case we all can say it was a good decision to go at it this way. On the other hand the team plays bad and go on a fatal slide then only one guy will pay the price and it will be bye bye Ralph.
I still say he’s got balls to do this cause most coaches let players run all over them only to get sh!t on when things go bad.

Agreed.

Not sure why (well, it's Ralph we're talking about, so we know why...) he's playing above Joker (but it's not as if Joker has had anything resembling a good year), but maybe he's just going w experience there?

I fear that Bryson gets pushed out once Risto comes back.

Can't blame the player for his minutes, that is purely the coaches decision. I totally agree it is frustrating seeing him out there but that is because this coach sucks. He never puts any blame upon himself its always the players.

This is half true. The player is still bad. The coach is bad, but that doesn't make the player not responsible. Lets put it this way. I don't know who you like for football. But when Tyrod Taylor was the QB for the Bills, you didn't say "well the coach is bad for putting him in that situation." You said "Tyrod is not a good NFL QB." Both can be true, one can be true, or neither can be true. In Irwin's case, he's two things: Not very good (signed league min and 7th d-man on a not great team to begin with) and is playing above his skill level (coaches decision, injures, but it doesn't change that he's not a very good hockey player at this point. If he was playing 10/15 games with minimal minutes, fine whatever. Problem is, for the Sabres, he is not and looks like he's gonna play more. Get what I'm saying? Also, meant the royal you, not you personally above.

Guess who has 4 times the goals and 2/3 of the point totals of our 17M LWers.. League min Dom Kahun, while being a positive possession player and getting mostly d zone starts.

Also, Joki isn't having the best year, and I did say the pairing is intriguing, meaning there could be hope that he turns it around with Bryson as opposed to the not great play of Irwin.. Don't know why this is so controversial. Either we suck with Irwin playing more, or we take a gamble and maybe suck with Joki-Bryson pairing. I guess I'm a betting man, roll the dice on the kids.

- SDSabre

Strange how kahun does nothing, but then gets time playing with childhood friend leon. That helps the bottom line.

Irwin adds some veteran nhl experience. That's the thought?

Who the hell is Ryan Jones? That's why he's not playing. You would never play that guy over Irwin who is a mature NHL D man who has playoff experience and some past success as a 7-8 depth guy. If you would, then you should just keep spewing your horrible ideas all over the internet because you'll never get a paycheck from an NHL team.

Jeff Skinner's agent, Don Meehan, had a lengthy phone conversation with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams on Wednesday.

Meehan expressed his and Skinner's concerns. Skinner will be a healthy scratch for a third consecutive game tonight against New Jersey.

Russell Wilson's agent tells ESPN's Adam Schefter that he has not requested a trade, but that if he were dealt, he would waive his no-trade clause for the Cowboys, Saints, Raiders or Bears.

They would have to cut 3/4 of there team to fit him under the cap. Maybe the whole team.
