No flow at all in that game, weird calls all night. (Nurse on Connor was a hockey play, lots of soft calls. Good call on the Russell hit and Wheeler - what was he thinking - pick)
The one call that bugs me most was the 10 minute misconduct on Archibald. It sure looked like the refs bailed on that one and didn't want to give another 2 for roughing and a short 2 man advantage. Not sure what he said to get the 10 but his actions were worth 2.
When does the Jets D start getting a little respect for what they do? They were hard to play against, good sticks, decent exits from Morrissey all the way through the group to Beaulieu. |

Hence, it won't happen....because PoMo always does the opposite to what you want.
It's his master plan.

He’s been on waivers so many times. This will be second time the Jets have reclaimed him off of waivers. Making this his third stint with the Jets franchise. I will let you decide what you think. |

Awww that’s really nice the Jets do not want him to be sad. So rather him moving his girlfriend to play where he is the franchise just keeps bringing him back so that his girlfriend is happy.
This makes this transaction that much more special. Too bad it did not happen on Valentines Day!

The Nurse hit was a penalty and wasn't a hockey play. Agree on the others.
The Archibald penalty I'm glad someone brought up. I'm ok with him getting a 10 after that, but it should be tagged along with a 2 if going that route. There is no way the Jets should be without a PP after that sequence.
I also agree the D played pretty good last night. Pionk has been playing real well and I hope he doesn't price himself out of an extension here.

Pionk has only added to his game since arriving. Now he is blocking shots, scoring on wrap-arounds, and getting more of a chip on his shoulder. I am loving what I am seeing, but that being said, Forbort has been nothing short of rock solid as a pairng that brings balance. I think they look like a great second pairing, and combining for just 4M is an absolute joke! Lets hope they can give Pionk an extension (maybe 5x5?) and Forbort (2x2?) to secure them going forward. Jets are in a fairly good place financially, as I don't see Perrault, Lowry, and Statsny combining for their current hit of 13.6M, if they are even offered an extension at all. |

I’d be okay, not really comfy, but okay with a 5x5 for Pionk.
Forbort can go. We have Morrissey for the full deal now, and Heinola and Samberg already likely our 1 and 2 options on the left side, with Chisholm coming too. |

With a flat coming in for the foreseeable future, I don't see any player signing for more than 2 years at a time. In my opinion salaries are most likely going to go down. Pionk will be lucky if he gets 3 million again.
That goes for all players heading into contract negotiations.

Jets should mop the floor with the Canucks tonight. I predicting a 5-1 win.

Doubt that, Pionk will get paid by someone and thats probably the Jets, very unlikely he's not getting a raise.
Teams are still mostly spending to the cap, someone would surely sign him to a $4M+ deal. |

With arbitration rights, he will get 4.7 on the low end and 6.4 on high end through arbitration. |

Pionk would get a minimum $5 MM per year if he continues to play this well. Trouba who ?
https://www.overtimeheroi...-back-jacob-trouba-trade/
Further to this article, I think most of us see Heinola as a stalwart on the Jets D for many years to come and has a similar style of play to Quinn Hughes. So the Chevy not only won that trade but it will prove to be a landslide win.
As a side note, aside from Pionk playing so well, Josh Morrissey has played flawlessly of late. I still believe Morrissey will be on Team Canada in 2022 if it doesn't turn out to be a boycott of China.

He put Thompson in because he would be killing penalties. Instead of the 2017 1st round draft pick whom has shown an enormous jump in play.
Nate Thompson did not play on the penalty kill last night. |

Only our resident troll Rexy would try to find negatives in a 2-0 Jets shutout.

According to the nhl website Thompson played 6:56 with all that time being even strength last night against the Canucks, zero time on the PK.
Also of note, Forbort had a bit more total minutes played then Morrissey and DeMelo had the least minutes played of the dmen but just 15 seconds less then NB88, Poolman had a about two more minutes played then NateB, seems like the Forbort-Pionk pairing is the Jets top pair now. |
