It would be nice to have the NAte Schmidt that played in Vegas the last 3 seasons. Other than Virtanen, Nate has been the next biggest disappointment thus far.

I thought he was excellent last night. Other than that horrific giveaway. Wtf was he thinking

Talked with SKA president Roman Rotenberg : Vasili has a minor concussion, he is feeling better, he will get 3 days off. Vasili has been 1 of best players, very happy with his play.

I seen a Podcast today that was headlined Treliving has to be held accountable. This is going to be a short honeymoon

- VANTEL

Markstrom for sure will help the Flames as we've seen already for a year or two if he can stay healthy. But he will be a reliability quilt like he was here.

Tanev honeymoon will end sooner IMO as it's only a matter of time before another injury hits. We've watched Tanev miss 1/2 seasons for years now it's someone else turn lol. But Tanev will also help them when healthy like he did with us here. It was just good to see Benning didn't succumb to this contracts.

He was busy trying to mortgage the future with OEL.

From Eliotte Friedman's "31 Thoughts"

14. I’ve heard the rumours that Vancouver GM Jim Benning’s contract is not guaranteed beyond this season. I’ve looked into it. There is pushback on that from a couple of sources, who say it is guaranteed for two more years.

15. Didn’t mind Canuck owner Francesco Aquilini’s Saturday tweetstorm in defence of Benning, Travis Green and the process. Rumours were swirling, and I do think that has an effect on players — there’s nothing wrong with calming the waters.

Seriously I don't care about the Flames one way or another it is fun bugging Kman who is a good guy.

I have seen though Markstrom still gives up a lot of early goals in the first five shots and he still gives up late goals.

Tanev is a good shot blocker but they did give up 46 shots to the struggling Canucks. He does play very well in his own back end but who wants to spend the night in their own back end.

I don't really think they are that good but not bottom feeders also. They will struggle to make the playoffs.

lol no that was Tanner in the other blogs just before he got canned from HB...after all, OEL is 'technically' a way better player than Tavares....

Ya I give K-Man a hard time but he's a good dude as a few others from the Flames thread. Even with the additions the Flames still look like a bubble club. I still have us at 16-19 overall this year and will stick to that. Much like the Flames we will need to make our own luck to make the PO's this year. This format as I will admit is much tougher than I thought and two 6-7 game losing streaks you are probably done....

I thought Rueben had a pretty good take on this year earlier in the morning. It was pretty much how I felt. If any team goes on a 15 game hot streak ( 11-4) they will be close to the top of the division. It is getting close but no one is out of it yet.

Thanks Carol, you forgot to mention that the reffing in the first was horrendous! Just about gave the a Canucks enough chances to make the comeback insurmountable.
Not sure how the refs can continue the Wideman effect but they just won’t let it go.

Wasn’t expecting the Flames to win all 4 games but another win for Markstrom on Wednesday shouldn’t be out of the question.

You're an idiot, you don't need patience with a 29 year old NHL veteran with 400+ games under his belt. Be good for your 5+ million or fcuk off

Not that it matters but with no fans in the stands even the Nucks should have taken 2/3 games at home for 4 points. Can't see them winning in CGY in that 4th game. Holtby will let in the first goal on 4 shots and stare at Miller in disgust...and that will be that.

Awfully cocky for a dude that supports a garbage team. What’s with the over confidence? Or are you incredibly insecure and it’s all a coping mechanism. Asking for a friend

Let's not discount Schmidt here. He's shown a penchant for scoring on his own net and the fatal giveaway.

Wards gonna ride Markstrom til he breaks, it’s called job security. Big Sieve Dave should get the start Friday against the Oilers, if he doesn’t regain some confidence this team will go nowhere.
You guy want to get rid of Green, try watching Wards game decisions, and not yell at the tv. I think most passionate fans hate their coach.

Another note, how many breakaways are the Canucks gonna give lil Johnny? I swear he’s had more vs Canucks this year than anybody else.

How the hell did your team blow a two-goal lead and lose in overtime?

Franking embarrassing.

Hockey is a joke this year. Every division. Perhaps they should have scrapped the season but I’m glad they didn’t. Sh!t hockey is better than no hockey at all

I know that Schmidt is getting a ton of hate in here lately, but I actually think he has been the most consistent defenseman on the Canucks to date. His mistakes have unfortunately been glaring when made, but overall, I would like to think he has been one of the best. I think Juolevi ranks 2nd for overall being consistent (albeit limited ice time). Myers hasn't been bad, but him and Edler ranking 1 and 2 overall in most minor penalties in the league has been really bad for us.

True, also the whole wacky aspect makes the Canucks playing like a lottery team slightly more tolerable.

It's not Myers fault, it's because he's tall.
