Anthony Travalgia: Jets hold on for much needed win After back-to-back losses, the Jets bounced back with a 3-2 win over the Flames on Tuesday.

Great write-up Anthony!

I am hoping that Maurice adds some new words to his vocabulary. This top 6, bottom 6 stuff is so nineties. Great teams have a top 9 and bottom 3. Hopefully he can adjust the lines to match his talent once Dubois is in the line-up.

Also, I think Ehlers deserves so much praise. I have always felt that him not getting lots of ice time was a travesty. This guys has 40-50 goals written all over him. Laine’s loss has opened up a vacuum and Ehlers will surely make up for any offence lost by Laine. Ehlers is cut from the same cloth as Bure, Kariya, Mogilny, and Selanne. Would love to see him on the top power play unit as well.

Just some Ultimate thoughts for a gloomy Wednesday afternoon......

Sure like how the back up Broissoit is handling himself. Very solid outings for the back up and these 2 points with the back up in net are so important.

Should try to squeeze him into a few more games than was originally intended. Might help Helle clear out some of the brain fog with good freindly competition nipping at your heels.

Does anyone play the POMO post game interview game?

Guess how many times he says 'Real and Really'?

I'm a pomo fan, just enjoy the post game interviews a lot

I love counting how many times that Chevy says "there are a lot of moving parts" in his interviews.

I have also created a new drinking game for TSN broadcasts.
Everytime Beyak says "tight turn", you down a shot.

When PLD enters the lineup the Maurice has no reason not to roll out 3 offensive lines. It will be great to see the Jets having only the 4th line as a checking line. Having 3 top lines will mean that the players will be able to play shorter shifts and less minutes. With Scheifele, PLD, Stastny at center, and a choice of Ehlers, Connor, Wheeler, Copp, Lowry, Appleton, Harkins, Perreault and as their top 3 line wingers the Jets have a lot of options.

If you want a Jets drinking game just have a shot anytime Scheifele falls down.

10 times a game not unusual. It’s kind of odd actually

I believe this 100%.

However, I would like to know what the turnover rate is for both players with 1 or fewer skates on the ice. I’d bet Perreault is keeping that puck more than any other Jet by miles when he’s on his ass or being fed boards

I'll give Scheif this comment though. He is one of the best Jets at keeping or retrieving the puck along the boards. I am amazed so many times at how he somehow retreives the puck out of a scrum and retains it . Lowry is very good at this as well but not as good at finding the open guy a split second later like Scheif can.

BTW...interesting to watch Maurice defend Wheeler's poor defensive play the last few days. It has been quite noticeable lately. Dubios has a reputation for being very responsible defensively, and Copp is as well. Copp- Dubios -Wheeler may solve that problem.

I do not think separating Copp and Ehlers is a good idea. My ideal lines would look like:

Harkins-Scheifele-Wheeler
Copp-Stastny-Ehlers
Connor-Dubois-Appleton
Perrault-Lowry-Lewis/Vesalainen

To help out Wheeler, Maurice should play Big Logan Stanley back there as it appears that no one scores when he is on the ice.

Not one team in this division can defend that line-up.

Perrault falls more than my 4 year old on the backyard rink. Same height too, but my son is far more durable.

Agreed. If you have a winning recipe, why change it? That line better remain in tact, and just run the 3 lines at 18 minutes each. Chuck the plugs in as little as possible. That is dangerous top 9!

Bennett is healthy scratch - is he about to be traded for DeAngelo or Dunn? or just a healthy scratch?

Given that he had just 12 points last season, and 1 through 9 games this year, I doubt he is being traded for anything of value. DeAngelo could have been claimed off waivers, so that could be a potential trade, but Dunn will command more than that.

Mason Appleton, this man is definitely turning into a force of nature!!!

So much untapped potential. I think when Dubois is in the line-up, this man is definitely going to score 30.

Points? Maaaaaybe. If we run real hot the whole rest of the season.
Mason Appleton has only scored 20 goals at any level once

Correct me if I am wrong, but has Mason Appleton not always played center everywhere he’s played? Seeing as to how he and Copp are performing so well, just reiterates my point of easy it is to develop wingers. Appleton has all the tools to be an elite playoff performer. He will be a 40-50 point winger with the HIGH possibility of scoring 30 goals. Man, I am loving this team!

Saw some flashes last night of up and comings players like Vesalainen and Gufstasson with Lewis. They had some awesome shifts hemming Calgary in their own end and you can see these kids inching toward more confidence as they were controlling the play and created good chances.

Speaking of confidence, you can see Stanley gaining more and more everygame. So, what happens with the expansion draft in terms of young players that have to be exposed or protected due to playing enough pro games?

Will players like Stanley, Ves, Appleton be eligible to get picked up by Seattle?

Wpg has an awesome team and needs to win it all this year. Seattle is going to be plucking players off this team for sure so who is eligible to be exposed or protected aside from the obvious like Helle, Schief, Connor, Dubois, Wheeler because of his NTC, etc?

I completely agree with your take on Vesalainen, Gustafsson & Stanley. Very pleased with their play! I think when we get returning players such as Poolman, Harkins they may need to look at other players to visit the press box. I thought Scheifele looked his best all year last night (200ft game) and seemed motiviated mixing it up in multiple scrums and owning the puck in board battles.
