Add this to the list of things that make absolutely no sense.

They broke the rules and now are being punished... how does that not make sense?
You don’t have to agree with a rule in order to follow it |

4 games is a lot but they do need to test negative for 4 straight days now. |

True.... For all the league knows, they could have caught in the hallway while walking to their teammates hotel room |

Yup... and as ludicrous as that sounds it’s still possible and major sports leagues have to go over the top like this or fans will start disobeying health guidelines as well.
There’s a trickle down effect here that people need to consider |

The rule seemingly makes no sense. But they knew about it, broke it, got caught. They knew the penalty. |

People tend to forget that part of being a pro athlete is being a role model for the rest of the community...
Look at what’s happening, 4 players broke the rules and it took less than 24 hours for it to grow into a full on debate on lockdown measures.
Being an athlete is more than just playing the sport these days |

It's like on some of those comments.
At least the players from the Caps will still get paid while on Covid protocol.
I think they should not as they did break the rule. |

Quarantine isn't supposed to be a punishment - it's supposed to be a mitigation strategy to reduce the spread of Covid. It makes no sense for four people who sit on the same bench every game, who practice together, and who hug each other after goals to go into quarantine for spending time together away from the rink.
If the league or team wants to suspend them as punishment for breaking rules - by all means do that. But I maintain that this "Quarantine" makes no sense.

Now quarantine definitely makes sense. Wasn't aware of this piece of info.

I imagine the union played a large role in ensuring there was a difference between a “suspension” and “protocol measures” |

I never once argued that it made sense.
All I’m saying that the rules are the rules, the players knew the rules and therefore knew they were breaking them, and therefore should be punished
Like I said... a rule doesn’t have to make sense to you in order for you to follow it. |

So suspend them for breaking the rules. My point was forcing them to quarantine made no sense as quarantine is a mitigation strategy to reduce the spread of the virus. It's not meant to punish people and it shouldn't be used as such.

A bad look for Ovi, he’s the leader on that team. When you think of team captains how many others do you think would be that dumb? I’d say not many. |

These guidelines were laid out before camp even started. The players have absolutely zero excuse.
Like I said... not agreeing with a rule does not justify breaking it |
