I think Trotz will go with Varly tomorrow. Why not go with the guy that hasn't given up a goal in two starts.

Agreed. I think he’ll use Sorokin when he feels he has too. Maybe in a back to back situation. He blamed the team and not being prepared on Sorokin’s last performance but he saw what we did. The kid didn’t have one positive aspect to his game there’s no denying it excuses or not. I’m not saying Sorokin is a bust but there’s no dolling up the disaster we saw over the weekend I doubt he’s in a rush to throw him back in there.

They will be plenty of time for Sorokin to get ice during this condensed season. What’s more, I’m quite sure Varly is breaking down the North American game with him at every available opportunity.

Goalie is like a quarterback the way the team plays in front of him. Sure the coaches are working with Sorokin based on his first action. Hoping to see more players get time and have this team build more depth for a po run.

Well looks like bellows is on the taxi squad again kind of figured they wouldn’t have him and Wahlstrom in the line up simultaneously. They could still get him in but it seems it’s going the way I thought it would. Really need to get these kids in the lineup and playing we’re going to need the depth in this condensed/shortened season. Hope Wahlstrom gets in and has a good game this team needs both him and bellows to be regulars. Johnston and Komarov aren’t going to cut it.

I'm just not getting this. You are paying JGP good money you want to play him with some talent. Islanders need help on offense especially when Eberle and Bailey are not producing.

Tough balance between getting the kids ice time and maintaining what trotz believes gives this team the best opportunity to win. Can’t give up points.

You still need the good mix of both offense and defense and especially when you play elite teams in the playoffs. Cannot just rely on the defense. Barry seemed thrilled with both Wahlstrom and Bellows in camp. Was that just talk? If you need these young players to step up due to injury or bad play elsewhere in the lineup they need consistent playing time.

Not every prospect pitches a shutout or records a hat trick in their first outing as pro. Given the condensed season you are going to see decisions made that may or may not have been made in the past.

Sorokin had a bad game no question. You do not know what was going through his head. He was thrown to the wolves by his teammates in a game they knew the Rags would be coming out for vengeance. Give the kid at least 10 starts before you use terms like bust.

Yes Bellows and Walhstrom need to play but it may not be a stronger lineup with both player in. This season is a sprint and not a marathon. You do not have that 10 game stint to stumble. You cannot go with more than one lose between wins or you are on the outside looking in and using up your resources chasing to get in. That burns a team out.

Trotz has proven that he knows what he is doing with the tools that he has been given. It was clearly evident by the way they played against Boston. We all need to be a little less critical at this stage and enjoy watch the games.

Nobody called him a bust in seriousness. With that said I don’t care what’s going through his head he’s got to figure it out that’s supposedly one of the reasons professional athletes get paid so much money to play a game. Hopefully that first start wasn’t what we should expect obviously it wasn’t the most ideal of situations. The kid has immense talent hopefully it translates to the NHL.

Nobody is also saying keep playing Bellows and Wahlstrom even if they are no good. Throw them out together with JGP for a game and see how they do. I still have high hopes for Sorokin but I get going with Varly especially after 2 SO's.

It's bizarre. As if Barry is going to keep playing them if they are lousy.

Hopefully if Barry has to pull Varly in a game he checks with sOrOkin and gives him enough time to clear his head and get ready to go in. Don't want to throw him out there without having enough time to ready himself.
I think he should get the same curtesy Greiss was given.

Exactly. Perhaps Sorokin would like a little more time to “collect himself” next time? He should be given whatever he needs no need to fluster.
