Freddie was good last night, Honestly thought Hellybuck was the better goalie despite the crew giving the 2nd star to Freddie. Leafs absolutely pummeled the Jets in the 2nd, outshot them 22-6 and only outscored them 2-1 because of a late goal which could have been saved. To his credit, Freddie played well in the third period where the Leafs did not attack and did not play as well as they did in the second. Freddie is a decent goalie that has not performed well under pressure for the Leafs. His flopping style leads to some very soft goals. He also does not handle the puck well, really good goalies like Price do not flop around and handle the puck much better. There are exceptions of course Hasek flopped around but was much more agile and athletic than Freddie. Freddie has led the league in 5-hole goals two straight seasons and other teams know it. - winsix
I’m sending this post to Freddy.
Once he wipes the tears of sadness away, I am sure this will inspire him to prove you wrong.

They have all been extremely active. Lehtonen didn’t have a great game (not horrible) but there was a shift where he and Bogo of all people were all over the place in a controlled way.
I was worried when the Leafs went more defensive in the 3rd, cause Leafs can’t D, right. But they were pretty much locked. They gave up shots but it wasn’t a Boston 3rd period situation.
Andersen helped by not giving up a lot of rebounds and winning face offs made it simpler.
I want to see more games like the last two. - Canada Cup
Well it was Lehtonens first nhl game, so im gonna give him some slack.
Lets see if the leafs can string several games like these in row.....win or lose.
You could really see the value of three strong lines as Keefe just kept the pressure on in the second period, especially. That was as dominant an 18 minutes as I’ve seen them play in a while (very long while). - Canada Cup
I actually thought this had a lot to do with the 11-7 lineup that Keefe deployed. He gave Matthews, Marner, JT, and even Nylander additional shifts which kept our better players in the ice.
They should consider doing that type of thing in the playoffs.
at 5v5 the Leafs are rocking 88.89% for 25th in the league atm
also they are only shooting 6.74% for 23rd in the league
and sporting a .956 PDO for 26th in the league.
Lots of room to improve. they are 3-1, thats a good sign

rielly is still better than brodie in his own zone.
can't believe dubas let go of barrie, only to bring in the exact same type of player (put pressure on brodie, and he'll get afraid to get hit, giving up the puck) - MaximusAurelius
Brodie's been fine.
I think he's closer to a Rielly than a Muzzin, but that doesn't match your description either.

Right? But then without the goals to show for it, the Leafiness in me starts thing bad thoughts.
Glad that late Jets goal didn’t change the dynamic too much at the start of the third. - Woderwick
Big picture time Woodsie.
I like the way they’re coming together especially considering the time needed for new guys to work themselves in. I like that they dominated and held down a one point lead. I liked Freddie’s play. He was quiet compared to Montreal and didn’t give up a lot of rebounds. The goal was off a very quick shot where he had to come across. I always like to see holes covered but tough to do when you have to come across quickly like that.
I may like tomorrow’s game a lot less but right now I’m happy with the team and a used with what I read here.

The big boys are on the ice in final minutes of the game. Proof they are maturing.
Man I hope we aren’t Jinxing them.
Leafs got lucky last night.
Didn’t win good enough.
Didn’t win big enough.
Didn’t win the right way.

Rielly shot double his career avg that season...was around 4-4.5%, then suddenly 9%
it was obv that was never going to continue.
But ..last season he had a massive correction and shot 2.3%..which is low..he will have a bounce back again im sure and land around 5% ..just a guess - senstroll
I'm fair less concerned with Rielly's shooting, which was certainly anomalous that year. I'm more concerned with his assist totals. Last year's 5v5 assist totals were pretty much in-line with the previous year, and if he can continue to provide that offensive spark at 5v5 with good outlet passes, he'll be fine. On the Power Play, he's been effective without getting any points. Right now it's 6/14, and that effectiveness will come down, but he's getting ice time, and his numbers should go up there as well.
I like Hyman, because he truly can play anywhere in that lineup, and for the most part, he gives it every shift.
Freddy made some great saves last night. I think he will be more than fine and make some eat a little crow.
Now... if the Leafs lose to Connor McDrysaddle next game, we’ll back on suicide watch and the trade everyone mode in here again. - Woderwick
EDM has troubles with deep teams.
Leafs have 3 strong lines and that could be enough to outmatch MCD and Dri.
it is ridiculous how poorly that team has surrounded Mcdavid. They need some guys to take away some points from Mcdavid and Dri or they will never be good.
