I think that if you give him a good partner, being out of position is Rielly’s game.
He’s going to pinch down to the hashmarks, join rushes, go low when we have the puck in offensive end.
Think Gardiner, but with intelligence. - Atomic Wedgie

Reilly in 3 on 3 overtime is super exciting, he’s freaking dangerous when he has space and time. - Woderwick
They have all been extremely active. Lehtonen didn’t have a great game (not horrible) but there was a shift where he and Bogo of all people were all over the place in a controlled way.
I was worried when the Leafs went more defensive in the 3rd, cause Leafs can’t D, right. But they were pretty much locked. They gave up shots but it wasn’t a Boston 3rd period situation.
Andersen helped by not giving up a lot of rebounds and winning face offs made it simpler.
I want to see more games like the last two. |

I like Hyman, because he truly can play anywhere in that lineup, and for the most part, he gives it every shift.
Freddy made some great saves last night. I think he will be more than fine and make some eat a little crow.
Now... if the Leafs lose to Connor McDrysaddle next game, we’ll back on suicide watch and the trade everyone mode in here again. - Woderwick

That and 6 new guys still coming together. They weren’t great against Montreal either. |

It was actually kind of nice of the other teams not to claim him in my opinion.
They could have done it just to (frank) the Leafs. - Leafs43
I’d be sad. Both he and Jumbo are character signings. Intangibles, lol. |

How bout Spezza the Faceoff King? - Woderwick
73.5% won is crazy high
Snakes with 69.6% isn't too shabby either
Lazy Willie with 75% is of course better, but we all know why...

I missed the first 10 minutes but other than that, I didn't see any major issues outside of the last penalty
Couple big rebounds off Andersen but got cleared away pretty quickly
PK looked good

I noticed the Leafs vs Sens last game, starting to block out their opposition a little better. It carried over here. Jets should be better though, right?
Meh...it’s early. This season will be a dog fight. |

You could really see the value of three strong lines as Keefe just kept the pressure on in the second period, especially. That was as dominant an 18 minutes as I’ve seen them play in a while (very long while). |

Freddie was good last night, Honestly thought Hellybuck was the better goalie despite the crew giving the 2nd star to Freddie. Leafs absolutely pummeled the Jets in the 2nd, outshot them 22-6 and only outscored them 2-1 because of a late goal which could have been saved. To his credit, Freddie played well in the third period where the Leafs did not attack and did not play as well as they did in the second. Freddie is a decent goalie that has not performed well under pressure for the Leafs. His flopping style leads to some very soft goals. He also does not handle the puck well, really good goalies like Price do not flop around and handle the puck much better. There are exceptions of course Hasek flopped around but was much more agile and athletic than Freddie. Freddie has led the league in 5-hole goals two straight seasons and other teams know it.

Right? But then without the goals to show for it, the Leafiness in me starts thing bad thoughts.
Glad that late Jets goal didn’t change the dynamic too much at the start of the third. |
