It is funny that "some" people expect every other player on the ice to make a huge, coast to coast play to score a goal, big hit to change momentum, all of that, to get us in a win in a close game
BUT god forbid a goalie makes a fu3king big save.
No, no, goalie doesn't have to do anything but sit in the crease, it's the Ds fault, it's floater Willy's fault, it's Marner, it's, it's, it's....anything but the goalie.
I'm an Andersen fan. I really am. He made the net solid after a lot of years of shiite. But he's falling off or needs new motivation. HE DOESN'T MAKE HARD SAVES. Period. And he needs to, to be great. IMHO. - Barb34
These are my thoughts exactly. If andersen can get back to where he was then we’re golden. But he hasn’t been good the last 18 months.
I want him to succeed but when things aren’t going well I hate when the leafs keep throwing him a bone when he doesn’t deserve it. |

Not hearing a word about dominant play of Leafs. Just a lot of talk about the goalie. Goals happen. It was a good quick shot. Too bad it happened at end of period. Leafs do that a lot. - Canada Cup
Yeaaah that's a common side effect of having a save % in the .830 range. People are gonna focus on the goaltender at that point, even more so in a close game.
He's having a great period, he needs a solid game under his belt and I hope he gets it. |

I’m actually wondering if he is trying to do too much.
His output is below his effort. - Atomic Wedgie
He's def. not dialed in yet. Some of the chances he's had so far this season were in the net last year. |

Is Burns talking about the Vlasic contact when he says it doesn’t fit anymore? |

Lol. Definitely and then sees odd man rush going into his D zone, stops skating to back check and jumps on bench and is yelling “not my dash, I was off the ice” of the other team scores.
Generally spouts his stats and that he is a plus infinity in the room after you get stomped 6-1. - Cush29
You sound like my beer league goalie!!! |

It’ll come, might not break scoring records this year but he’s all over the ice which. Great defensively |

Flipping the puck out to center ice.
Finally. Puck possession is great, but sometimes you just need to get it out.

I was agreeing with you. I was saying that he could have done more with that play rather than just shooting immediately. He could have gone right around that defender with no stick easily. |

Hes had a great game, hes allowed one goal.
Goalies get scored on.
I don't see anyone whos butt hurt.....but im no expert on noticing butt hurt.
- Fakepartofme
Goalie conversations are tricky. They're like Internet Provider conversations. If I get an outage, Cogeco is a giant steaming pile of crap. In other words - anything less than 100% is unacceptable.
Now, objectively, we all know goalies are going to get scored on, and there are going to be goals that aren't their fault.
The standard is the level of play that you can consistently demonstrate. Andersen set his standard by demonstrating a level of consistently good play - that he hasn't shown consistently for the past year, or perhaps more.
He's doing well tonight, but in order to win back those fans he's lost, he needs to consistently demonstrate it again.
I'm not trying to be an ass, but that's the challenge with Andersen these days. He's one stinker away from being, "Great, this crap all over again.".
He needs to be November Freddie for a couple of months! |
