I really think the Coutourier injury is a blessing in disguise.

If it HAD to happen, I'm glad it was early.

We can see how we play minus possibly a top 2 player on the team and can plan accordingly.

Yes, it's early, but until we lose a few in a row, I am fine with our start.

Jeff Skinner on the fourth line, with that contract, what’s up with that?

Jeff Skinner on the 4th line, really? Wasn't too long ago he was a big FA signing with a 40 goal season under his belt, my how the mighty have fallen.

Bill,

Just a small error you wrote farabee had 4 points 1g, 1a - should be 3a.

Man,

Buffalo is a cautionary tale about tanking. Ton of high picks that so far have not translated. Big signings thst haven't panned out. Just yikes.

Skinner is none too happy about being on the 4th line. I read they may be moving him up. But apparently he and the coach don't see eye to eye about much.

If the Sabre's had a good goalie they could be a team to watch. Very shocked they didn't make a move with Arizona. Also not sold on the coach.

Bill do you see Ghost getting into the lineup when he is deemed fit to return? If so who do you see coming out?

Sucks it had to happen at the expense of Couturier, but I'm pretty excited to see what Frost can do. He didn't look ready last season to me, hopefully that's changed.

You never want to lose arguably your best player. Anyone saying it is a blessing in disguise is misguided.

I think the depth can get us through, but we’ll see. As I always say, I expect hart to step up. After buffalo, it’s a big test with Boston. I’m curious to see how we match up now with chara gone. Going to be very different.

Boston looked horrible verse the Devils, losing two Dmen that are playing 20 minutes a night is very difficult to replace. Especially with Pasta out.

I didn't watch, but I expected them to take a bit of a step back this season. That said, you really can't afford to look past anyone with this format.

Most said this would happen as soon as he signed the contract, but NHL people know better. I thought JvR playing 4th line minutes was a disgrace....but there's always someone else who can top it.

This whole "we have to pay more because of demand and stuff" has to end and end soon for the NHL. Most of the time not paying for the demand cost and losing out on the UFA is more beneficial to the team, most meaning 99 out of 100 times. If the GM is pressured to make the signing then they are just not good at their job.

You can’t but I’m not holding them to some high standard. It’s going to take 10 games in or so to really know what’s what due to the shortened training camp and no pre season.

Buffalo was in a very different situation than a team like the flyers . They needed to appease Jack and it’s tough to get people to sign their, when you can you probably are over paying.

It will be difficult to play Boston without Couturier, since he typically gets matched against the Bergeron line. But I still think the Flyers should win at least 1 of those games.

Boston's problem is the same its been for the past several years, who scores after the top perfection line? With Pastrnak out it makes it even harder for them to score 5 on 5.

The plan that was developing before Ghost went into the Covid protocol seemed to be trying him out again with Provorov. Braun had a few days on the "4th pair" with Gustafsson and Hägg together every day but one and Sanheim-Myers retained as a pairing.

So the Flyers could go back to something like that at first.

Then ownership and management can take the responsibility for it then. Especially when their hands are tied and can't improve their team when they have contracts like Skinner and Okposo still hampering them.

I wonder if Jacky Jorts will stay knowing that or will he think to himself "You really tried guys I'm gonna stick it out because it's cool to do"?
