So why break up the one good line? Why not just say AA is right and trade Nylander. Makes just as much sense as anything else I’ve heard here.
I was too disgusted to watch the whole game but there seemed to be enough poop to around. After watching Marner struggle (or fail to elevate) against Columbus, I don’t buy that that line’s failings is all on Joe. I didn’t see much difference when Hyman played up.
My guess is that Robertson replaces Barabanov on the 4th. Maybe he gets some PP time and maybe if things aren’t clicking he gets some top line minutes or Keefe j7st mixes and matches. |

I just watched the highlights of the game last night, and im going to break down every goal Freddy allowed.
1. A 5-on-3 for Ott. A well placed one-timer shot by Chabot on a nice pass from Batherson. Hard to blame Freddy on that.
2. Zaitsev shoots the puck through traffic from the boards, and Tkachuk deflects it in front. Zero chance for Freddy to stop it. Tkachuk could've set a lawn chair up in the crease and no Leaf would touch him. Idk what Brodie was doing, but it wasn't playing defence.
3. Auston Watson snaps it home from about 15ft out, all the time in the world. Once again, atrocious defense. No one taking their man. Hardly Freddys fault.
4. Zaitsev shot from the point, Freddy reacts to the initial shot that hits Brodie and bounces to Tierney who taps it home. Once again, Sens players are allowed to stand around unharassed in front of Freddy.
5. Brodie just gives the puck to Stepan behind the net, who throws it out front, there's a shot, Freddy saves it. Then a scramble in which the puck comes to a wide open Stepan at the side of the net who taps it in.
Watching it over again its so much more clear that the problem isn't Freddy. The defense from both the forwards and the defensemen is amateur at best. Mindbogglingly horrendous coverage, battling, decision making... Brodie was brutal last night and there's no denying that. No a single one of those goals was a "softie."
Stop blaming Freddy for the terrible defense this team plays.

Yup ...probably Campbell and Robertson in. Give them some game to show they're 'woke' and if not then shuffle as needed. Robertson, Hyman, Simmonds, Mikky give them some options to juggle around. That Kerfoot line was pretty good at controlling the puck in the zone and making smart plays. Ideally they wouldn't have to shake that up.

Hatty for Matthews tonight, Campbell allows one goal in the third and and Freddy reflects on the real estate value of the area between his pads. |
